Chichi

He was being facetious. It was his way of mocking Jason because he said something that "The Mental Lentil" disagrees with.

If this was directed at my posting. No, I am not Luke. My name is Jason and I have introduced myself quite a while ago in the introductions section. I mainly just read the Café and from time to time will chime in.

As Chichi puts it - It's getting old.

Actually, I wasn't talking to Jason. It was just a generic piece of banter addressed at Luke (Ramsay).

And Chi Chi Man, I really don't have a clue about anything. (Please disagree with me as I would hate to be the one who finally gets the Argumentalist to agree with something).

I agree with that! I also agree that you are not nearly as funny as you think you are.

He uses exactly the same techniques as in another trick. No real improvement and the subtility he uses sound really poor. But it is a Penguin Magic's product, so it explains a lot. ^^

Luke, I really, really don't understand your motivation in doing this.

Firstly, you have released some work recently which has been priced a little on the high side (to put it politely). Some have said the work was worth the money, others have said that they felt disappointed to receive 43 printed pages from your PC.

It is absolutely your right to charge whatever you think your own work is worth and if people are happy to pay the price then good for you.

It is just a shame you obviously don't value the work of someone who is a hero and an inspiration to many on this board by making it readily available at Penguin Magic. I don't buy any excuse other than you did it for the money - it's one of those effects people will find if they read enough and work hard enough. You have seriously devalued both it and your own reputation (IMHO) by being involved in this work.

Best,

David.

Well said David.Al Koran honed his presentation of medallion with hundreds of performances over many years and to see this "dodgey car salesman" ridiculing this beautiful effect in two minutes was a travesty ,ive seen some sell outs in my time but this.Whats next Fogel's Headline Hunter with Playboy.

Just a quick post to let you know that I am not dropping out of this thread and will make fuller responses later today as soon as time allows. Also I am not for a second calling everyone here arm chair mentalists. Not at all. That was not the point of that post.

I also do not think that this version of the Koran effect is slum. it fits a purpose. More on that later.

Hope you all understand,

L.

I like Luke Jermay. I have seen him perform and enjoyed his show. I think that there is a mob mentality going on here and people are jumping on the bandwagon.

I wouldn't have known about this being on penguin magic if it had not been mentioned here. So the people that are berating it are also helping to promote it, you bunch of nutters.

Also, I have yet to perform anything that anyone has told me about their little nephew doing the same thing. I still don't think this appearing on penguin magic is going to cause a wave of panic through the mentalist business, quite frankly it is a bit rubbish and is far removed from the original, in my opinion that makes it ideal to sell to the starters. They can mess this up without all the subtleties and not affect the business of those that do it. Not that they would as nobody outside of this little world cares.

I don't see any reason why Fogel's Headline Hunter with Playboy would not be a good premise in the right circumstances. Seems a little narrow minded to limit these effects to just the original use. I wonder how my new bible booktest is going to be received, it comes complete with flick book action, body-popping Jesus revealing the thought of word. Too crass?

So. It is nearly five in the morning Vegas time. I will respond to all in the proper manner as soon as I awake tomorrow (today) the real issue I find here is that your all going on about performing in the real world but clearly you do not understand what performing in the real world is.

I mean come on guys. Your !@#$%ing over the fact that I decided to alert a new generation to a classic.

Where you not booked to perform tonight? I can only imagine not. As you have ben on here all night.

This is not menat as an insult I just think that at times peopl ehere are basically gaurding material for their own sake.

There is no reason this shouldnt be knonw to new performers.

Also notice is says "with Luke Jermay" and not "by Luke Jermay" there is a big difference.

Very big.

Tony I will repond to you point by point in the morning.

Sleep well and be fresh and zesty for your high paid performances tomorrow morning as I know you are all doing.

By the way does anyone know a good accountant? I have a feeling most o you know a good nine to five guy around here?

Love and eternal kisses,

L.

Coming from an apparent "Professional" This kind of reply really does show what kind of person you must be... The more worrying part is, you seem to suggest that you are working full time with bookings coming out of your ears yet you have only recently got a once a month slot in a tatty bar for $100.

that's Hardly someone in urgent need of an accountant is it?

Yeah there can be a lynch mob mentality but can you honestly say Luke hasn't brought it on himself?

Firstly he withdraws from the forum - he becomes a "not we" - and the masses hate that. Then he starts releasing very limited and very high priced manuscripts - another thing the masses hate. Then he releases a classic many people treasure (although probably rarely do!) - that's a triple whammy!

Maybe I am not the "masses", but really only one of those things bothers me. Even at that I have seen many do much much worse.

What really happens is one person gets upset. Other people see a chance to take a shot and they do. Osterlind is one of the nicest people I have ever talked to on a mentalism board, yet here on the Café? He was beaten up and left for dead. Why? People wanted their shot at one of the big guys. I am willing to bet there are people taking shots at Jermay on this thread that either didn't even watch the Penguin video, or they have no freaking idea what the original method is. They just want a shot.

I see not one thing wrong with limited releases considering how the internet can quickly devalue information.

Most of us can agree on this don't you think?

In addition those who bought the stuff did not appear to terribly dissapointed in it.

So why should I care or really any of us for that matter?

In addition I am only commenting on the topic of low release works nothing else.

Best Wishes,

J ack

PS. Did not know of Richard taking a beating on this forum.

There is more than one issue going on this thread. Limited releases, introducing mentalist classics to the masses, overcharging and multiple identities aside - surely the main gripe must be that someone took a 'classic' did very little to change it and is now selling it as their own work. Anyone buying the download is paying for the method, which wasn't Luke Jermay's to sell.

I suppose now that someone could make minor alterations to some of Luke Jermay's original effects and sell them without him making too much of a fuss.
