I am looking for ideas on some "one person" illusions. I work alone and want to add some larger stuff to my show. I already own Device and Illusion, Solo-X, Great Illusions of Magic, and several of the Osbourne books. I plan on purchasing Conjuring Anthology. But does anybody have any ideas for larger tricks, where no assistant is needed? Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Web is a nice one man illusion I have personally seen in action. It is easy to perform alone, and your angles are good. Jack produces a well made illusion.

Hi, Jack. Nice work there, my friend. The products look top quality, and the designs are really quite amazing. Nice stuff. I do like what you have created with The Web illusion. It looks like it sets up fast and packs down flat. That makes it so much easier for one person to handle and perform with ease. I also love the fact of how it is performed. It really is so much better then a standard walk-around type of thing. Very visual, and I like that the helpers hold on to the rope the entire time. Nicely done.

Thanks, all! Yes, it packs down in its ATA case, which is only 9" X 9" X 49" and about 50 pounds.

Hello!

Yes, that's right, the "Web" is really a great illusion for a "one man" magic show...

It's very well built, and the flight case is beautiful!

Thanks, Jack, for that job.

Kyle & Allan,
Thank you for the kind words about my illusion, The Web. The illusion was created out of a need for an illusion that packs small and plays big, and The Web illusion fills that need.

As for Sean’s comments, you better say nice things about The Web, you were the one that help me work out the bugs in the prototype and came up with the wrist tie thing.

Jack, great job on the illusion. I can't be more happy with the quality you put into each one. Also, the design you came up with to make it break down into that case is amazing.

Lance, great job, my friend. I really like how the illusion plays out, and it looks visually wonderful for the audience. I think you could even do a Keller rope tie as a lead in to this larger effect, and it would be a great tie in (pun intended hehe).

How are the angles on this? The reason I am asking is that I am really getting rather interested in the possibility of adding this into our show. I do a lot of fairs and festivals, as well as larger style banquet type shows, and I have the need for illusions that play big but pack up small for travel and set up and break down fairly quickly. This looks like it may just do exactly that. It certainly has me thinking, for sure.

Kyle,
If you present the illusion the way Sean and I did in the video, you will not be able to do it surrounded, but a resent buyer told me he is having a 4-sided cloth made so he can do it surrounded. He will be able to do it both ways, depending on his venue.

Thanks again for the kind words.

I own The Web, too, and love it.

The simplicity of the prop, and ease in performing it, is its beauty.

I can provide the "surrounded cover" if you need it.

Web looks nice, but a little out of my price range right now. Any other ideas?

Head Chopper is a classic - comes in many price ranges. Solid comedy build-up, audience participation, etc.

Jim Gerrish just started Book 4 in his PVC Pipe Illusion series, and wouldn't you know it, four illusions using backdrop screens, and two of them are solo illusions in answer to many requests for solo illusions. I think he will be including other solo illusions for Book 4, as well. All four illusions in this first set are appearances, and then you can just leave the screens in place to act as a backdrop for the remainder of your act. It's on my site.
