I give Criss credit for every positive thing he has ever done for magic and do enjoy a lot of his performances, but if he acts like an egomaniac and uses CT as much as people are saying, then it is only a determent to the art. Being "in your face" is fine, but acting like your "off your face" is not. I think he needs to spend a little more time with JT or get some more help with how he comes off at times. That said I do wish him success, just the kind that all magi can be proud of, not just himself!

Chris himself, his network and sponsors, his fans, and people on magic web sites like us will be the only people in the world who care that Chris said that he's the best. Whether Chris and his backers believe it is debatable. His fans believe it. We don't. Everybody else could hardly care less.
It's hype. The next magician to get on TV will be forced by his publicist and probably his network and sponsors to say that he's the best magician in the world. It makes a difference to us because we've all seen people who are better showmen and technical magicians than Chris, but anyone out of magic neither knows nor cares who the best is. And if there were hype in a subject that you aren't very interested in, neither would you. Let me give you an example: The Fantastic Four comicbook has plastered at the top of ever issue that it is "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine." Do you care? Based on artistic and writing quality, sales and popularity, it obviously isn't. But not even comic book fans care, and they're a scary fanatical lot. (As someone in the industry, I think it's cute.) The public is inured to hype. They hardly hear it above the din. A few people will believe Chris, and that's enough for those sponsoring him, and so he says it whether he believes it or not. (I hope he doesn't, but he might. Fame does funny things to people's self image.) Bill |

Has he got a J. D. Powers (tm)/(sm) class so he can be best in his class yet?

BTW Bill, I am primarily an Avengers fan, and the hoopla over Angel in magic is mirrored by the hoopla over Bendis! in the Avengers fan base... I guess it just goes to show that people are people where ever you go... |

Daddy you were not kidding your a fan.
It brought so many Avengers it is what caused the East Coast West coast thing to happen. Kind of a low rent rip off but Force Works ring a bell? How about Thunderbolts? I liked that idea.

Who is Johnny Beyond? New user 1 Post |
It doesn't matter what Criss Angel thinks of himself, because The World Heavyweight Champion of Magic Johnny Beyond is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be! And whether you like it or don't like it, learn to love it, 'cause it's best thing going!

In claiming that he's the best, Criss Angel is really no different than any of the other great magicians that have come before him. People with names like Houdini, Thurston, Kellar, Blackstone and more. Just look at their advertising posters. All of them said they were the greatest or the king of magic, or escapes, or...(put your own effect/branch of magic here).
Houdini was known for having a massive ego. Others have been equally as big headed.

A "stuntman" is not a magician. Dai Vernon is probably rolling over in his grave right now.
