I have the Wolf's Chicken Sword and was looking into Barry Mitchell's Super Chicken. Does anyone have any comments on how this plays or sources of other chicken (rubber or otherwise) themed magic that would play for kids and/or adults.

I have done a rubber chicken dove pan routine for years. Basically I claim to have received a receipe from a gentleman (I describe Col. Sanders), add the ingredients into the pan from my receipe card, including my secret blend of herbs and spices (lighter fluid) and then read the card as "set on fire at 350 degrees", at which point I set the fire, then as the flames blaze up, I look at the card and say "oops, that says set on the fire at 350, not set on fire at 350" Looking around a little bit lost I slam on the cover to douse the flames and open it again to pull out the rubber chicken and proclaim "Woooo-eeeeeee, finger lickin good" always gets a great laugh.
"Now here's the man with the 25 cent hands, that two bit magician..."

I use the Sean Bogunia prop Animation Sensation to bring my chicken back to life. I use a duplicate (stunt chicken) that's just the head of the chicken attached to the animation rod gimmick. I've also added a cape to my chicken (all 2 1/2 of them) so that when you do the switch that they have matching/duplicate costumes.

How do you discuss "chicken magic" and not remember Matilda? She is also the Guinness world's oldest chicken. For magicians she is the only magicians' assistant to have ever received a "Broken Perch" (Broken Wand) ceremony.

Odd that today Lucy and I had lunch at a seafood place that asked about the trick chicken in Birmingham! (They have a house magician.)

A chick chick here and a chick chick there. Here a chick, there a chick, everywhere a chick chick.

I use a real live chicken in my show and do the lean with its wings flopping. Check out the demo video on my site to see the trick.
