Hello all,
I'm looking to start using effects that use the Out to Lunch principle, but I'm more of a hobbyist, so I don't have my own business cards. Does anyone have any experience using Out to Lunch with a differently sized card? say an index card? I tried the standard broccoli type band with index cards, but it bowed the cards too much. Any tips? Thanks, Justin |

You'll have to experiment with this. Certainly nothing is written that you have to use business cards... maybe you could use baseball cards, or other sports cards? That would be a good adaptation. I'd say as long it looks logical to have a rubber band around the cards - and they don't bow, go for it.
Here's a couple of things to check out: Doc Eason has a metal clip that's a really cool prop (works with business cards) that gets rid of the rubber band. Gregory Wilson has a great book called Stockholder that has TONS of ideas by all kinds of great magicians on the out to lunch princiapal. You're bound to get good ideas from there! PS... even enthusists have business (calling) cards... All it needs is your name and phone number... reminds me of Jimmy Stewart in the movie "Harvey" He was constantly hand ing out his personal calling card... Business cards not expensive either. You can get them free from vista print on-line. http://www.vistaprint.com
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

To keep the record straight... the clip I offer is designed for 2 inch wide cards.. they do not work for any other size (smaller or larger)
I have done Roy Johnson's Flash Square using index cards.. works great. the blue 'broccoli band' however is too short.. and will bow the cards.. not good. just get one of those bag o' rubberband assorted sizes.. you are bound to find one that fits the index card without bowing and still hiding the seam of the half card. you can buy business card stock from Office Depot/Staples/ that are exactly 2 inches wide.. run em through your own printer and print your own.. or - as Rich suggests Vista print can get you into business cards (or simply calling cards) for under $10 doceasonmagicshop.com offers that booklet Rich talks about above.. the Book that accompanied the stockpholder wallet.. Lots of great ideas.. Doc
