From David's website:
http://www.f2m2.com/board/viewthreadID.php "- They are playing with the intro video to cut down the playing time, but they have gotten A LOT of compliments on the video as well, especially from celebrities such as Francis Ford Copola, who really enjoyed the video, so they are trying their best to find the right balance to please as many people as possible on how long and which clips to show as part of the montage. - There are a few brand new illusions that are sitting in the Las Vegas warehouse ready to be introduced into the tour. However, even though the music is ready, the cgeorgeograph is ready, and the performance routine is ready, they are waiting for some last minute safety adjustments for it to be 100% safe to be performed by David repeatedly day after day after day. - For all of you who have been complaining that there's no levitations in the current tour, one of the new illusions is a HUGE levitation illusion- They will seriously consider alternating current illusions with older "classic" illusions. "Flying" may even be a possibility, but it was performed on tour for more than 7 years and taken out after a lot of fans complained about seeing it too many times (shock!) - No new TV show in the plans yet"

Hey that's great news.
I've thought for a long time that David should take up residency at a casino in Vegas, and perform there 5 nights a week. He wouldn't be as tired. And he'd have the ability to alternate between some of his great classics that we all love seeing. Me personally - I love his After Hours levitation, love his metamorphisis etc. Some of those I could watch show after show. They're created that well. Great news on the coming changes. -Robert

Does DC take up residence in Las Vegas?

MGM Grand he plays very often according to his schedule. Aside from the touring dates, that's his Vegas home.

Edh, he spends most of his time in Vegas (MGM/and private museum)when not on tour, but he also has his islands (Musa Clay) and a penthouse in NYC. At least that is information that I gathered from interviews he has granted.

Certainly - at least I do hope so - it will bring fresh wind into the scene.

A HUGE levitation? Any idea on what will be the object(s) will be? It would be great to see some older illusions reincorporated into the show like Origami, On the Edge and Walking Through a Steel Wall. The last is far more mystifying than the current Through Steel which I first thought was just a name change for the illusion. The other thing about T.S. is that he is seen laying on his back during most of the illusion and when he finally penetrates and the sheet is lifted Dave is on bended knee facing the audience!?! Several non-magi who I've seen the show with have commented that it was stupid and that he just slipped out the rear and got on top as the sheet is raised and I have to say that that's what it looks like! Even the re-creation of his escape from Alcatraz would be entertaining and hasn't to my knowledge been performed in the show for more than a decade. Dave seems to have balked at any box effect save for Squeezebox and Test Conditions since the late 90's (wonder why), but I think that it's been long enough that it's safe to bring back a few of them. At any rate he does need a good levitation in the show; magi of Dave's status should make something float because it's like it's expected of him especially since he can fly!

That's incredible, I heard a lot of complaints that his set has gotten stale over the last few years. I would love to see him on tv again though now that we've had Blaine and Angel do well, David's still the man.

I am sure that David will craft his show to carve his own position in the market. It will be big time and full of glam.

That is cool that he got some new illusions but he needs to save a lot of them and than just keep switching the new ones so they don't get old

"The vanishing... EGG!"
Come on, he doesn't even need to do great illusions. Anything he presents is so entertaining and/or artistic/poetic that the effect or illusion is secondary to the magic moment, even in the eyes of other magicians. I really want to see him live once in my life. |

Looks like he's in Vegas until the end of the year. Sounds like planning for next year with him being near home for 6 months.
Im glad he took this break. He's been on the road for almost 25 straight years |

Annoyingly, he hasn't been on our British shores since the early 90s!

Anybody read the essay called "Say Anything" from Eric Mead's new book Tangled Web?
He kind of rips Copperfield a bit for generating an image and not giving his audience a real point of view about anything. Thoughts? Carrie |

That image is what sets you apart from others and defines you. A real point of view... (would like to see how he worded that) I would define that statement as "the perspective from which a story is told". Barclay House, Snowstorm, Portal, Flying. I can't think of a better story teller, my wife cried during portal!!! Again, hard to comment on the "Tangled Web" since I do not own a copy, so maybe you can elaborate some more on that Carrie. Thanks!
