If you're looking for something compact that retains a consistent shape, 55mm Ballistic Suedes are quite nice.

Have you considered making your own? I've never done this myself, but in every thread I've ever seen about juggling ball options, someone always seems to suggest it.

There are juggling balls up on ebay for a dollar each, but a firm juggling bean bag, with a durable outer skin is not easy to make, and that is why the good ones cost 10 to 12 dollars each.

Hi there,

Another thing I was just wandering, does anybody have particular colour preferences with juggling balls? Are all white balls a good option?

God bless!

When choosing ball colour it makes a real difference what the ceiling colour where you practice is. So if you have a white ceiling you don't want all white balls. On the other hand white are great for a dark ceiling. I use 2 colour balls because I never know what sort of enviroment I'm going to be in. I want my audience to be able to see what I am doing whatever the situation.

Nigel

Of course it also depends on the type of show you do. There is a lot of kids comedy to be created by having balls of all one colour apart from one 'naughty' ball
I knew a man who kept saying "pliers, pincers, scissors". He was speaking in tongs.

Hi there,

What if, like me, you do all your prctice outside?

I suggest you pick out your favorite color, it's not important. Do you understand what I'm talking about when I refer to "club passing"?

Hi there,

Yes, I know all about club passing and how it works! I haven't ever done any of it, although I have passed balls for an afternoon. Why do you mention it?

God bless!

Ball colour also depends on the costume you wear. For instance (same as cieling colour) if you are wearing a white suit costume, you don't want to juggle white balls.

Example I wear a black suit, white shirt, waistcoat with silver outline, and I have yelllow blonde hair. So I juggle yellow balls as they stand out.

I am sure you understand.

Also, practice balls. Its worth having two sets (one set for practice/ one for shows) if you are juggling outside they WILL get dirty. Lots of juggling balls (especially suede) are very hard to clean,

Anyways that's it from me,

My feelings are the best “Balls” are the silicone balls. Great weight and feel and perfect for bouncing BUT… if you looking to do stage work you may want to go with Bean bags. Reason is as I go from stage to stage I don’t often get time to set lights for my best juggling. Then there is always the over eager spotlight operator. This can lead to a drop. Bean bags won’t bounce off stage on you. Easy to load on your foot with your other foot and kick back up into your pattern getting you another round of applause.

This is not a perfect suggestion but it tends to work best for me. Hope that helps.

Oh, on top of what people have said about colour of ball, if you're under a lighting rig, you'll want them to be a different colour to that of the light you're under. Don't juggle red balls under a red light unless you want them to disappear.
