Yeah, that's what the plastic is for, right?

I haven't performed it with the plastic, because I haven't needed too.

Joseph,
Back in the olden days, authors occasionally included items without an explanation of the method. They were offered as "problems" for the reader to ponder and attempt to figure out by themselves. The purpose was to encourage the reader to be an active participant in the creative process, instead of merely being a passive recipient of the work. I always enjoyed that creative challenge, because it stimulated me and forced me to think. After I figured out "Winged Hypercard" I considered including an insert in THP that explained the method. But ultimately, I decided that I didn't want to deprive the reader of the opportunity to exercise their brain. Since then, I've received a lot of feedback from guys who thanked me for presenting "Winged Hypercard" as a problem, because they enjoy the creative process. Thus, I will never disclose the method for constructing "Winged Hypercard." It's not that difficult to figure out. So, grab a pair of scissors and some cards and get busy! In your creative quest, you may just come up with other designs that neither you nor I nor anyone else had previously envisioned. That is the point of this whole endeavor. That is why THP is an ongoing project. It is my hope that all of you will continue to think and to be creative, and that THP will never be completed. Thanks, Tom |

Yeah, I liked that part of the book, because I would have something to think about. The construction of it is pretty simple.

I purchased the The Hypercard Project book for an extra pop to CardWarp. Interesting and glad I bought it. I think I will be using the Wesley James version. My concern is whether a curious observer can remove the staples/tape, etc. and reverse engineer the effect. Outside of the originators (James and Frame), does anyone else have significant experience (e.g., hundreds of performances) with it? After the curious ones take it apart, are they still amazed and perplexed? Anyone figure it out?

I've never had anyone take it apart. It seems they think they would get in big trouble if they would take it apart. They look at it like its from the Twilight Zone.

Heck I have never even had a magician tear it apart........they look as perplexed by it as everyone else.

I've never had any problems with specs trying to take them apart either - of course, who knows what happens when they get home? I do the Hyper-Warp version but instead of stapling the other card to the Hypercard I staple my business card to it. That way they have my card and an impossible object. I have given out a ton of business cards that way.

Alton Thrash lives! Long time no see Alton!
I've had people track me down at cocktail parties to show me the unfolded card so I would know they figured out it wasn't really twisted around. That is why the stapling of a card to the hypercard is valuable. |

That's why you have to do Son of the Hyperwarp!

Thanks guys. I'm going to go for it. Its just looks so cool and I think it kicks up the effect a notch. Will, I plan to stay away from the Son effect. I like being able to freely show the back and front of the entire unfolded card before the warp begins.
