I'm a big fan of Barry and Stuart and think they're bloddy brilliant. I'm only
upset that I didn't think of these excellent routines myself. I can't wait until they make their US debut.

They are very funny indeed. I especially enjoy this routine:

They're pretty unpopular amongst magicians in the UK, partly because their TV work overall has been pretty awful on the whole. They tend to give magic a bad name. eg pulling a rabbit from a woman's genitals. Absolute disgrace.

I'd love to see the whole Miracles of the Bible special in its entirety. Is most the stuff on You Tube from their specials or guest appearances on other shows. England gets all the cool magic specials like the Secret Cabaret and Barry and Stuart. Here in the states all we get is Cris Angel's special effects extravaganzas and whatever latest stunt David Blaine wants to inflict on us. Even Penn and Tellers last special was a little flat.

So you really think pulling a rabbit from a woman's genitals is great for magic generally, and in perfectly good taste?! To me, it's one of the biggest lows I've ever seen magicians stoop to, and goes to show how lacking in any sense of morality so many people are. Revolting.
I have no idea if any of it is available on DVD or not; I would guess not, because it is not at all commercially viable. Secret Cabaret was better than the rubbish that these two perform any day, yes, I agree. |

Well it was more of a women giving birth to a rabbit then how you describe it.
I do like how they have broken away from some of the cliches of magic. They also have the great David Britland as an advisor. The hour long 'Miracles from the bible' is not for sale.Channel 4 show it every Christmas time! The Secret Cabaret must have been the best magic that was EVER on television though!

I personally don't like Chris Angel or David Blaine but I recognise that they have a vision that seperates them from the pack and thus they help to take magic in a new direction. Was the rabbit bit in good taste? Of course not, there's no rule that says everything one does has to conform to the marrow confines of good taste. A good performer pushes at the boundaries of convention amd challenges the staus quo.

If they really think that that routine will advance magic in any way, they are only deluding themselves.

LOL keep trying Payne. All my peers watching that show with me just found it disgusting, and muttered, 'magicians are such rude idiots'. Way to go, eh? Truly quality magic, that!

I'm with Payne on this one, I've been browsing around youtube and had stumbled upon Barry and Stuart. I find their takes on classic plots very refreshing, in good taste...maybe not. But you can't say that they aren't original at least with some of their material. And when it comes to taste it can only be offered as a personal reflection. I find them refreshing, funny, and down right un p.c. and in some aspects very tasteless, WHICH I LOVE!!!! Anyone that has the balls to put themselves out there and draw attention like that, especially since they have a thread on here now, I'm all for it!

Taste is subjective. Remember they are Scottish so there sensibilities are different than yours or mine. After all these are the people who think that a sheep's stomach stuffed with oatmeal is a delicacy.

It's not a matter of whether they are good or not, but their humor should disturb those who call themselves Christians. There has to be a line that we draw and walk away from...

Right on Payne, but if the issue is on a religious note...well then change the channel.
