I don’t really know much about Coin Magic. However, a friend of mine is pretty skilled. He studied coin magic a long while back and learned from books by Bobo and (I think he mentioned) Roth. He is looking to pick up where he left off and study the coolest stuff invented since his early forays into the art. He asked me for a recommendation and I told him I would look into it. What do you guys recommend?
Thanks, Elliott |

Anything from the New York Coin Seminar Guys, or Curtis Kam should keep him busy for quite a while.

Giacomo Bertini DVD will definitely make him feel as if He were new in coin magic.
Good luck. Jeff

I suppose they could start with the NY Coin Symposium DVDs.
But as for books... seems your buddy missed out on the Ramsay stuff courtesy of Andrew Galloway who has written three and then two more on applying the basic strategies of Ramsay's attention management to standard tricks without feints. Kainoa Harbottle and Reed McClintock have also put some impressive modern work into print.

Thanks guys.
I will search for all of your suggestions and report back to my friend. He is really quite good, but has been out of touch with magic for a long while. |

Elliot, there's a lot of great stuff out there, big and small. Try not to simply deal with all the lofty stuff only, as there are mounds of smaller things that are gems for coin guys, and quite affordable. That said, check Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic for some interestingly doable coin magic, Check the Godfather Vinny here on this site and his offerings from La Famiglia, Check the works by Justin Miller and Rannie Raymundo and Eric "Godhandz" Jones, all alive and here on the site, and great guys. All these guys do great work and have put some nice affordable work out there. There are many others, but the message here is check it all out and respect it, big, small and all. Enjoy the journey! -MB
