Is it just me (I'm fairly new to magic) or is there a dearth of good comedy rope tricks for kids? I found a gem - Knot Funny by Kandu (Jef Eaton) and there's his related Hankd and Rope Trick. But besides these and kiddie routines for Professor's Nightmare and Prof Cheers, can any of you rope experts offer advice on some good rope routines (or other routines which also use ropes) especially for kids?
Thanks, Mumblemore |

In the DVD "The Wiz Kids Present Rope Magic" (on my site) Jim Gerrish has several that work well with kids:
04. Blok-Kord 05. Ghost Rope 08. Do As I Do Ropes (based on U.F. Grant's Perfect Cut Rope) 09. Dancing Rope Worms (based on U.F. Grant's Spectator Rope) 12. In Again - Out Again Escape Trick The numbers refer to the segments on the DVD.

The old Rope with four ends as performed by Eric Sharp and Quentin Reynolds is a low-key effect good to settle the kids down after getting them all hyped by a routine like Super Chicken or the Vanishing Bandanna.
It is on the Practical Magic Home Page under New Items: http://www.practical-magic.com./ This site is in England, but they have lots of interesting (and some exclusive) children's magic.

Thanks, I'm going to look up some of these. And don't forget Knot Funny, which is excellent ("magician in trouble does ropes" more than a rope trick per se) but it is fantastic.

I do not remember the name of the trick but ALDO COLMBINI has one routine that work good for kids in one of his dvds, he uses a rope and a small tube.

I have a routine called "The Magic Jumprope" which never fails to garner me laughs and applause. It's on my DVD and in my (out of print) book "Great Scott! It's More Magic!" I also sell it by itself as a PDF file for $7.50 via Paypal to:

Has anyone tried Whit Haydn's "Mongolian Pop Knot" for children? I think it would play well.

Why not try the Idiot Rope Trick from Midwest Magic. This alway gets big laughs from kids and adults.

I am also going to go with Scott's Magic Jumprope routine which has worked very well for me when performing for kids...
