Show was to have previewed by now, anyone with reports on it?
Blair Marshall "ShaZzam!" Just checked and it would seem reviews not up (out) yet, however, top ticket is $113.00 for Hans, $72.00 for Lance. Boy, Pamela must have added to the overhead!!! LOL

Author: Norm Clarke Section: City Page: 4A Words: 669 Pamela Anderson makes hot debut Pamela Anderson's Las Vegas magic show got off to a smokin' start. Midway through Friday's final preview, fire sirens went off moments after Anderson made her grand entrance amid a pyrotechnic haze in "The Beauty of Magic" at the Planet Hollywood Theater. After some confusion over whether the siren was part of the act, the room was evacuated as smoke seeped onstage from a small pyrotechnic fire that broke out backstage.

I saw the first show of previews with Pamela's first night and preview with audience.
Everything went more wrong than a fire alarm going off. However, I'm not going into detail of what happened that night. If I had ALL those things happen to me that night, I wouldn't want ANYONE to talk about it. However, I'll review the face of it. I'd say that the show will probably get low reviews. Pamela could care less, after all, she's been reduced (yeah....not like that boys), to a magician's assistant. NOBODY (laymen included) thinks it's "cool" to have air blown through your hair. Hans unfortunately will not divorce himself from this staging, while people are laughing at it. What's undeniable is his passion for performing. Now if it could only be brought to the forefront by a great director. Set's great and the dancers are pretty good too. Just my 2 cents Quintana (KEEN)-tah-nah |

Yes I went and saw this extravagansa...I'll write a more formal review of my honest feelings about it and as many of you know I crave bad magic more than anybody and I'll sit through anything and still enjoy it but to be honest I wanted to walk out on this one and would have if my tickets weren't commpted'.
When a fellow friend and performer asked me what I thought of it as we were all leaving the theater in stunned silence the only thing I could say based on how I felt about the whole experience was "I'm glad that I went, but I wish that I hadn't". I also timed how long it was until Pam appeared in the show...it came to a long and painful one hour and fifteen minutes after the curtain opened. more soon...

Aw gee guys, how many illusions? anything new???
I think from what I have seen of Hans (only t.v., and a live event t.v show) I think the posing is his gimmick, and I believe he nurtures this image, and he knows folks are smiling at him (laughing??). Blair Marshall "ShaZzam!"

I must have missed a switch at some point. Wasn't this show supposed to have Carmen Electra in it instead of Pamela?

Well, if Sperris is going to shoot out some stuff, I'll give more details. Just please note this, this is for EDUCATIONAL purposes only; not to shoot the guy down. Let this all be a lesson to ALL:
Taken from the "Magician's Code of Ethics #4837- On Substitutions" -No illusionist may perform the "Metamorphisis" Illusion 5 times in their show. No matter how faster, no matter how "more impossible", not matter how spaced apart it is in the show, just do not do it. One change is sufficient enough believe it or not. "Magician's Code of Ethics- #27- On the Topic of Music in Magic -No illusionist after 2000 AD may use "Eclipse" by Cirque du Soleil. It's been done to death as many times as that annoying "2Unlimited" song. If you know what this manual refers to...GUILTY! "Magician's Code of Ethics -#825- On the Topic of Music in Magic- Music from Musicals Lest you think that your show is "Pulitzer Prize" winning material, do NOT use ANY music from the Pulitzer Prize winning musical "A Chorus Line". EVER! don't! The author of this manual would rather see Cassie whining at the top of her lungs for 6 hours than stomach a classic being killed on stage. "Magician's Code of Ethics- #6785- On Posing For every 1000 people you BELIEVE think you are "hot", "cool", "classy" by having a fan blow through your thick hair, there are 5,000 people who believe you are a DORK. This number also includes that first 1000. Finally "Magician's Code of Ethics- #666 Taken from Tony Andruzzi and Masklyn ye Mage: "A Magician's Credibility is the Inverse Ratio to the Number of Sequins on His Jacket" How many sequins are on YOUR jacket? Just my 2...no...3 cents this time Quintana (KEEN-tah-nah) |

I always saw his style as "Romance novel cover art with slightly better lighting". It's too bad the show was lame, I was expecting the opposite, possibly a re-invention.

I don't have enough hair to let it blow through a fan, so I don't have to worry about 6785.

The Code will be ready until I've gone through every single post and rearrange them (some are more important than others to be in the 4000s). I WOULD say that by the time it is completed, some of the codes will be out of date, but I forgot...this IS the art of magic...hehehehehehe.
The code is part jest and part educational on what audiences REALLY think today. I have the blessing of being surrounded by a lot of intelligent lay people (the majority in other aspects of the entertainment business) who give an honest critique when I ask for it (yeah, sometimes when I don't too). So anything you read in the code...actually comes from THEM (ie. #825, 25) Chris, I agree. A reinvention would have been great (especially for Vegas). As I've said before, there are glimmers of Hans' passion for magic in many places of the show...and then he's passionate about his hair. I've spoken with Hans Klok's dialect coach many times, and Hans' practially insists on having the wind through his hair. I remember talking to Marc DeSouza along these lines, it just seems that magic is always 10 years behind what's "in". Should I open a can of worms on a separate post? Quintana (KEEN)-tah-nah |

That's' why some the "top" magician's are where they are.
They either come out of the culture ie. Doug Henning, or they market using current culture, and more importantly market using upcoming trends. You have to "catch" and "ride" the wave so to speak! Use David as an example, he has re-invented his image several times over the years. Not drastically, but he has kept up with the times, at least within the market he is pursuing.
