I searched thru the site and didn't really find anything. What would any of you recommend as a good source for learning the Tarot for readings?

Thanks in advance,

Donnie

Whilst some may disagree I found Joe Riding's "Learn Tarot in 7 Days" highly usedul. Some of his meanings are not traditional however I found that his system gave you "hooks" for each card and it was easy to add meanings to the cards as I learnt more and more.

I would also add any tarot book by Sasha Fenton - in fact get the Joe Riding course and a Sasha Fenton book and if you combine the knowlededge in both you will be well on your way to giving satisfying readings.

I should tell you that it took me two or more years of doing readings this way before I loosened up and just started using my intuition in conjunction with the cards. To help with that kind of reading I highly recommend Alexander Thomas's book "Initiations".

Best,

David.

I think however you learn, making your OWN notes and crib sheets really helps.

It's almost like revising for an exam, using your notes in your style. Works for me...

A very nice book is from Rachel Pollack.
I think the English title is:
"78 degrees of wisdom"
Here is the link to the German Amazon Bookshop:
http://www.amazon.de/Seventy-Eight-Degre......;sr=8-14

It's from 1980 but still worth to be read.

Using '13 Steps to Mentalisim' as a comparision (as the first book EVERYBODY interested in mentalisim has to buy)......what's the first book that somebody who knew NOTHING about Tarot would purchase?

I guess that (similar to '13 Steps') my question asks what do folks who DO know Tarot inside-out universally consider to be THE primary text on learning about Tarot?
This question is less about what personal opinions are about the best book, and more what the accepted thoughts are on the best beginner book.

The provisio would be that, like '13 Steps' is the most common book that HIGHLY EXPERIENCED mentalists suggest for beginners, my question would have to be answered by those that have known their way around Tarot for a number of years at least.

Simply put, what is the base Tarot text that all experienced Tarot readers reflect back on and agree is THE beginners book of choice?
