Hello one and all,
I have a question which probably only the UK mentalists can help me with but you never know. I know that in the U.S. if one where to catch a glimpse of a persons Social Security Number, one could tell a number of facts about that person. i.e. where they where living when they got the number and there for probably there hometown (in a similar way to being able to work out someone’s star sign by knowing that persons birthday) Can the same, or similar thing be done with a National Insurance Number here in the UK? Can you deduce certain facts from those letters and number? Thanks, Alex.

I know that your date of birth is encoded into your drivers licence number.
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |

That's true, although when I've looked at my driving licence and compared it to my Wife's, the month and day are switched......
also, you may as well look two lines above, and there is your DOB......

About the only thing you can tell from a US SS number is the general part of the country they were in when they applied for it, no birth dates or other info is contained in the number.

I don't think PsychoMagi was talking about seeing the docs but rather getting the number surreptitiously via another effect, at least assuming the obvious that's what I would assume; otherwise why not just ask for their birth certificate. lol

I got my Social Security Number when I was nine years old, my mother had died and I was given benefits. The first three numbers, in my case, 565, denote the area of the United States where I was born. There is no other information that directly relates to the individual. However, knowing the area where I was born, New Mexico, can open up some new possibilities, insofar as needing information for a cold reading is concerned. Here in the United Kingdom, when I had moved here in 1989, I obtained a National Insurance Card, which is necessary for employment purposes, among other things. I believe that the first two letters on the card, also denote the general location that the card was issued; but I'm not sure if it is a regional location, or a separate geographic area. |

I think the first two letters indicate when it was issued rather than where.
... oh, the final letter dates back to the time you needed to send off your NI stamps there are 4 to stagger the number of returns needed to process at one time. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for some info. esp. mindguy, you have been the most helpful (no offence to anyone else!) Maybe I should clarify a few points. My reason for asking is that I remember reading a Docc Holford effect (Dark Cloak or something) in which he asks 3 people to write down 3 different things and then proceeds to divine this information but not in a direct manner. He instead reveals other bits of info he could not possible know plus the info asked for. So for example I think one billet contains the persons DOB and from that you can tell them not only there DOB but also you can tell that person what star sign they are, how old they are and even what day they where born on (via other methods and a little bit of thought) . Another of the 3 billets contains the persons ss number. From which it can be deduced where this person is originally from (or at least applied for the card thus you can tell them that they have ‘spent some time’ in that place). This, to me is a brilliant idea, however the closest thing we have here in the UK to a social security number is a national insurance number so I wondered if anyone out there may know if the same information is encoded (so to speak) on UK NI numbers.

As far as UK driving licences go, the number is only a coded confirmation of what is already stated openly on the licence.

Alex, I think the short answer to your question is "no". Have a look here:

Why, oh why did I not Wiki it?!
Thanks Barry. Any ideas for an alternative to use in the above Hilford effect (or similar effect)?
