Hey folks,
I recently found "The Mystery Card" effect in the book "The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings". This book is full of fabulous effects but this one really caught my eye as it is impromptu, and very clean. I have not performed it, but it looks like a killer effect. Have any of you performed this effect? Good reactions? Any tips? Thanks in advance.

It does sound like an excellent effect.
Although I like many of the effects in the book, I hate Mike Maxwell's writing style: Larry's so wonderful, Larry's so great, Larry's a genius, no mere mortal could have created this effect. Without all the superfluous drivel the book would have been half as big. Maybe he got paid by the word, like Dickens . . . . |

They are the kind of posts you read and then ask yourself, "Why didn't I think of posting that". Beautifully structured posts. They are a joy to read. Best of all, reading Bill's posts can be accomplished without any palming.

My script was published in Tubthumping. It is a wonderful effect but I don't use it anymore. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but because I've learned and created new stuff.
Max Maven has a wonderful technical variation which elminates the palm/cop. His routine (Sans Fronds) was published in one of the New York Magic Symposium books. |

Not to puff him up or anything but Bill's (the other Bill) Tubthumping is always sitting by my computer. I like to read thru it from time to time. It even has a coffee stain and the price tag on the back.
There's good stuff in there and it doesn't take up much space. A great combo.
