This is an interesting situation. I've never seen one with a copyright notice. So, since it came out long before the new copyright law, it's in the public domain.

The art may not be protected by copyright anymore but it would be nice to know who had the bright idea.

Yes, besides knowing when it came into being, it would also be nice to know who created or started the idea of the 52 on 1 card. Many of us took it for granted without this piece of info.

thanks for asking. That is exactly the question that I have too! Does anyone know any history about this card gag? It's a great Out. Every magician who does cards should carry one. It's a great additional joke for Invisible Deck, or any card force, or any verbal naming of a card trick.

The 52 on 1 card would be characteristic of the kinds of things that Tommy Windsor and George McAthy used to come up with during the time immediately before (and during) WW II.
