Yeah... using two quarters and an English Penney.
Would not be surprised if Mike Gallo had gone down this road already.

Did something happen to the begining of this thread? Messages get deleted on the Café all the time, but in this case it looks like some important stuff got deleted, because the tread isn't making a lot of sense.

Based on Vinnie's statement, I would hope someone can provide an explanation here- this thread makes no sense to me either.

Gentleman,
The Godfather will not leave the Café'. He just decided to make this his last post on this thread. He meant the thread. Regarding the deleted posts..... I don't get it either. There must be a reason for it. The Café' administrators knows whats best for this community. As a member ....I would like some clarifications too if possible. Rannie

You got a point Duncan.
Deleting the messages left only a thread with no sense at all. And besides that, an incident occurs with no explanation whatsoever of the reasons implicated. Anyway, I'm glad the Godfather isn't leaving from the Café. It's absurd that we only have to guess what's going on, only reading a post from the Godfather which leaves us wondering what the heck happened. My two cents on this, Antonio |

Maybe his post has nothing to do with this thread and there was nothing deleted?
Perhaps Vinny's just having a bad day.

Maybe it would be wise to, oh I don't know, PM or email Dave Scribner or Steve Brooks or Vinny and ask them about it...

You have an excellent point Scott.
Going back to the topic we missed... What was it about two silver and one copper coins? Was it a classic routine or a new routine being talked about? Rannie

How's it going with the English Penney and the quarters?
Any published references to this being explored?

Let's try again;
The copper silver transposition trick is usually performed as a one for one item using coins of the same size. What do you think about doing it using an English Penney and two quarters as a two for one transposition? Mike Gallo sells something which offers a very direct methodology. Have you explored this approach to the trick (quarters and EP) ?

Never with two quarters...Paul Swinford taught me a C/S effect that used a silver dollar and an American Penny.
I'm away at the moment so I'll play with this when I get home. |

I play with 2 dimes and a penny...
I remember sharing it with someone who quipped.."Oh I have that one"..thinking I used a dime and penny...) then I gave her the pennies. Penny for your thoughts... Mine is the Café is a fun place to share and learn. Putting on my coin mind reading hat.. What's the reason for having two change for one. Is there a better theatrical or 'effect' reason? A SC gimmick would allow you to do more or less all the same moves that you would for a trad. C/S routine.
Wonder waht the deleted posts were, glad to see Vinny's not leaving us! |

The asymmetry of two for one and the non identical sizes as well as the noise factor may well make the magical transposition more evident to the audience. Also since the coins are not the same size we don't lead the audience toward the oft used gaff.
Besides, things brings the trick near the realm of common or borrowed coins for at least half of the props.

I can see having some fun with this idea.
I'm thinking that rather than present it as a tranposition to use a half dollar and present it as a transformation. Two quarters turn into a half and the half splits into 2 quarters. |
