I'm not going to go into too many details, as I'm sure many posters will be more then happy to share their own stories and experiences, and because the full write-up should be in the next Northern Peaks (CAM's Newsletter, which you get by being a member).
I CAN sum it up for you though- BEST. CONVENTION. EVER. A couple of things that stand out in my mind- -Bill Spooner's excellent lecture on the history of the magic wand. -David Ben teaching at his Magicana booth and performing his wonderful version of the Universal card plot. -Juan KILLING guys left, right, and center with his material, and following it up with an equally amazing lecture. Seriously though, this guy will KILL you if you get a chance to see him. - Steve Beam was SOOOO much better then I expected, and I expected really good things! He was funny, had non-stop material, and was kind enough to give me a full 3 hour show at the bar! Steve, it was a pleasure jamming with you, and I will talk to you soon! -Seeing all my old friends (all the CAMP guys, Browser's regulars, and my New York pals) and making new ones (which is easy when your sharing a room with 6 guys...) - The late night jams. Went to bed the first night at 5, next at 7, and the last night didn't sleep. Got to see Juan, Cris Korn, Hiawatha, Doc Eason, JB, Asi, Steve, and all the soon to be names. Thanks to everyone who watched my crap, and thanks to those guys who pretended to be fooled! - The stage show. With friends like Ryan and Oscar (who are both top notch) in it, I expected it to be good, but it exceeded all my wildest expectations (seeing a pattern here). Both the James' were so good I had goosebumps. Oh, for those who were there- Oil and Water. Yah, I know. Wow. I would LOVE to hear stories, as long as they aren't about my sunglasses... Ben Train p.s. Happy Birthday Sammy!

Ben Train What about me? Today is my birthday too! Initially, things for me weren't going so well. After my flight was delayed numerous times and eventually canceled, I made it up to Toronto around 10:00 PM, missing all of the first days events. That was the only bad part. There was never any downtime during the convention. The dealer's room was always hopping, and jam sessions were going in every corner of the hotel. It was pretty easy to make new friends (which was big on my list, going in not knowing anyone!) All of the lectures were phenomenal, and I won't go into many details, as Ben already hit the nail on the head with all of them. The hospitality suite was great, and seeing Doc in action was a treat, even if it was an audience of jaded magicians on the last day of the convention giving a less than overwhelming response. It was definitely a blast, I might have to make it up there again in two years. (Which would make me more active in the CAM than the IBM or SAM). ps. Ben, glad you finally got your estimation thing to work at least once. Josh |

I thought the convention was AWESOME!
My favourite parts were, in no particular order; - Juan Tamariz' lecture - Steve Beam's lecture - Doc Eason's "bar" show in the hospitality suite - Performing one of Aldo Colombini's tricks FOR Aldo Colombini, with my own patter - Jamming in the hotel's hospitality suite and the bar until 3:30AM. Special guests and attendees alike, pulling out hundreds of effects, and laughing our you-know-what's off! - The gala show, with the whole convention AND 3,500 members of the public in attendance! Cheers from Toronto!

I too had a blast at the convention. The things that stand out in my mind (in no paricular order)
-Meeting and getting to talk to Hiawatha (truly one of the most inspirational magicians I have ever met and he was such a nice guy) - I really enjoyed Bill Spooners lecture - Watching Oscar Munoz perform his motivational kid show for a bunch of kids. Plus Oscar is such a nice guy. - The Gala show was excellent Ardan James,Aldo Colombini, Oscar Munoz, Tony Chapek, Ryan Joyce, and James Dimmare (He used my birds which I thought was totally awesome). Everyone in the show was incredible. - Everything Juan Tamariz did (of course lol) - I had a blast performing in the stage competition and was awarded the Greg Frewin Award =) - And getting to meet with a lot of my friends and creating new friendships. I am still thinking about Juan's oil and water. I had a chance to talk to him after the performance and he informed me the he will be re-releasing his out of print books soon. He also said that the 2nd phase to his oil and water will be in the book Flamingo--- can't wait.
Regards, Jeremy
I get to gaff some cool stuff for some cool people

Just think about it, in the bar Saturday night were (in no particular order): David Ben, Tamariz, Steve Beam, James Dimmare, Doc Eason, and so many more top flight all available and willing to "do something for you." It was unpresidented.

I had a blast at CAM. I'm also hoping to go to Montreal in 2009. I still can't figure out Juan's Oil and Water. We were all burning his hands, and he still pulled it off. Steve Beam and Oscar Munoz were also great!! Aldo had a great workshop on the Sunday. I love Doc Eason's Card under drink.

Al & Ben,
I'll be opening for a friend's "CD pre-release" on Thu Aug 23 at The Free Times Café, 320 College, on the north side, 200M west of Spadina. I'll be doing a 45-minute set at 8:45, followed by Dom DeLuca, and then Din. It'll be an EXCELLENT show. Tickets are $15 with a CD, but I can get them for you at $5 WITHOUT a CD. This'll be a VERY good show! Lemme know if you plan to go! Dan.

Well, I'm in.
I'll contact some of the boys (and Amy/Christina) and see who'll come with us. The Amazing Dan get-together? I like it.
