That is impressive. I've been watching quite a few of these video's lately as I'm learning to speed solve the Cube for a routine I created.
Myabe it's just me, but I find this task a bit daunting. There are some who pick it up rather fast . . . I'm not one of them, apparently. If there is someone who can help, please PM me. A lot of it is just learning how to move and handle the cube . . . some of these people have great hands! I've also been frequenting various websites that detail algorithms used to solve the Cube; the info goes in one ear and right out the other. Any assistance and pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for posting the link, Sebastian. Regards, Jerome. P.S. For those of you who solve the Cube, what is a realistic time frame for learning how to do this?

I'd be happy to sit and work with folks at this year's coming MindVention on how to solve a rubiks cube in under 3 minutes. I've also performed this same solve blind about 2 years ago for a TV project.

Stephen Long has no life, therefore he can solve a Rubik's cube quite quickly. I think she cheats...

My record for solving a cube is 3 mins 20 seconds. It took me a week of on/off learning to memorise the method.

I have never solved the thing.
But I can throw it a good distance and challange anyone who can solve it to throw it as far and with as much irritation as I can. J ack H.O.A-X

I hear ya, Jim. It's also very frustrating to see 3 and 6 year old kids doing this, lol!

I would point out my challange stands.
Heck that kid could not pitch that cube more than ten feet and I am good for at least 30 yards into the wind holding my glass O'Gin However that is one wicked cool bit of art in Patricks video. Great setting for that Partick. J ack H.O.A-X

I could routinely solve it in 20 seconds or less back in high school. Of course, that was a LONG time ago Also, I never even tried it blindfolded. I am sure I could not have done it.

The sculpture in question was designed by Tony Rosenthal and is called "Alamo." It's located Astor Place in Manhattan, NY.
Once, some enterprising "pranksters" turned it into a large Rubik's Cube. You can see how they did it here: http://www.alltooflat.com/pranks/cube/

TT2: Timeframe would be about 9-10 minutes your first day, 3-4 minutes your second day, to 1.5 minutes within a week and about 45 seconds in 2-3 weeks.
To get below 45 seconds you really need to do the "extended memorization" sets, ie combining phases(aligning and orienting) into a single algorithm instead of doing both. |

Although that didn't quite look like Astor place or anywhere near it, which confused me a lot. Were there multiples made?
Will you, won't you, ESP with me?

I realy enjoyed your presentation George. Very similiar to one of my own routines, although the method was indeed far more savvy than mine I admit. It's a very cool routine and allows for a lot of audience interaction.
One day I will write a book
