I just read a short article about Hans Klok. You know, Illusionist, Pamela Anderson, Las Vegas? I can't seem to find an English version, but I'll roughly translate the beginning:
The American dj Howard Stern, not known for his subtlety, asked Klok if he was straight. 'Yes, I am,' he answered. 'We even kissed a couple of times,' former Baywatch-star Anderson added. Klok said he didn't have a girlfriend at the moment, while in reality he had been together with his partner Frank for years now. So, forgive me the linguistic mistakes I made in my translation. But what just happened? His sexual orientation has never been a secret. Is it Hans Klok being insecure or might there be some sense in lying here? Or, adding something to the question; are there any magicians who are gay and did they get in trouble coming out? It's not my intention to start a discussion about being gay and if that's wrong or right, I'm just wondering where this comes from

Many business have long term partnerships which have nothing to do with intimate personal adult relationships.
Let's leave the bedroom doors alone around here. Most adults who are comfortable with themselves have no concerns about other folks preferences. Remember, it's always okay to say "thanks, not interested" if someone insists on discussing things you don't want to share with them.

He probably didn't want to open himself up to Stern's brand of bathroom/bedroom humor.

I still don't see why anyone should care, or anyone would care. You either like the man's work or you don't. How does the bedroom get involved in that. I think he was wise to steer Stern away from what might have been an uncomfortable topic.

Isn't appearing on Howard Stern's show a bit like appearing on Letterman or The Daily Show?

Gay magicians are fine and I've not heard of any being hurt by it except due to comments made by punks and know nothings on line. Hans may not consider himself fully gay or he may not want to be known as "Hans the gay magician with flowing blond hair". Does anyone know if Hans is going to the IBM in Reno? I need to talk to him about tracking down a business associate of mine, non magic related, who knows him well back in the Netherlands.
My question is when did Pam Anderson get into the show and what happened to Carma Electra? |

Didn't Carmen Electra leave because some of Klock's effects made her feel claustraphobic?
I know Pam Anderson came on right after Electra left, but how she got involved in this is beyond me. Was she next in line for the role or something?

I'm from the Netherlands, as is Hans himself. He has never made a secret of the fact that he is gay, so I thought it was rather odd he would start doing so now. I mean, nearly everybody knows, so what would be the point of lying? He shouldn't be concerned about his image or not consider himself fully gay, because everyone knows. Bit late to start worrying about it...
I have absolutely no idea who Howard Stern is, so that might explain something. But I just thought it was a bit strange he has 'suddenly become straight' and I wondered if it had anything to do with the United States/Las Vegas/the 'magic world'. PS Carmen Electra's schedule didn't allow her to be on the show. Or at least that's what news-site http://www.nu.nl has to say about it.
