I just finished my leather armor for a LARP in July.
It took 5 days (my gf helped me a lot). http://www.radioactive-lizard.com/images......cuir.jpg |

That is way cool armor.
What time period is that style from, and what weapon would you be hoping to deflect by wearing it?

It's a fantasy LARP, it's supposed to take place in scotland in the 5th century,
I'm hoping to deflect any foam/latex weapon (sword, axe, bow ,,,) |

Coincidentally, I spent ten years designing armor-penetrating warheads; I wrote portions of the EFP article in Wikipedia.
Imagine a US silver dollar punching a hole through 1" of rolled homogeneous armor (RHA) from 100 yards away; that's what I got to do. (OK, they weren't really silver dollars; they were spheroidal projectiles with the same mass as silver dollars, moving at about 2.5 km / sec (about 5,600 mph). That's a lot of kinetic energy.) |

Andy the cardician : I already made a chainmail armor (but just for my arm) and it's nice to build, and not very hard.
Yola Sol : No, I even have no idea what it is, any links ? S2000magician : ouch Some medieval arrows (with the right archer) could penetrate thick wooden castle gates (but not go all the way through) Jim Davis : what leather ....errr I don't really know I just went to the store and picked up this nice thick (3mm) piece of leather. The outter side of the leather is kinda shiny and easy to scratch. |

That thing looks like the precursor to Pinnacle's Dragon Skin.
One time, when I was young, I botched a sleight so bad, Vernon, Marlo & Miller rolled over in their graves. But I didn't see Elmsley, probably because he was behind the others.
