Uri Geller is a true gentleman.

Mr. Cavalli, I respect you greatly, but differ with your opinion of Uri Geller.

Thanks Arnon, and I respect you... No problem with me if people differ with my opinion of Geller (as long as it's not a problem with them if I defend my opinion of Geller).

So people please, don't jump on Arnon just because he has another view of things...

Thanks, Paolo Smile

Arnon,

Some might say those same things of attorneys, lol!!! Smile

You know I love and respect you as well . . . seriously though, is it so hard to believe that Geller might just be a decent human being in spite of it all?

I've made a personal choice to see more in others than what they are showing me.

Jerome:

As I've posted before, I chose to be a criminal defense lawyer rather than a prosecutor, because I'd rather see the good in people and defend them, rather than go after them with an accusatory finger.

Also, as a defense lawyer, I believe in the standard of proof of "beyond a reasonable doubt" in criminal cases, and "by a preponderance of the evidence" in civil cases.

However, when the evidence is there to be seen, is more than merely the "tip of the scales," and to my mind is "beyond a reasonable doubt," the presumption of innocence vanishes like a bird cage.

I have found that living this rational way IS the happy way - I choose not to be ignorantly blissful Smile

With admiration and respect for you Jerome,
Arnon

Arnon your last post would have a lot more meaning if you were not always accusing people of things even though you have not even looked at everything. Perhaps that is also a reason you did not become a prosecutor?

From the EFF website:

Quote:
Despite the fact that only eight seconds of the over thirteen-minute video contain footage allegedly under copyright owned by Geller's corporation Explorogist Ltd. -- a classic fair use of the material for criticism purposes -- Geller filed a takedown demand with YouTube under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). That violates the DMCA requirement that copyright holders only send takedown notices for infringing content.

I'm mystified by why anyone would want to praise this con man. Better to draw inspiration from an honest performer like Maurice Fogel, who did things more daring and spectacular than Geller (did Geller ever try a Russian Roulette routine?), who only presented himself as what he was - an entertainer.
There are many tricks, and many effects, but rarely a Grand Effect. There are many entertainers, but few real magicians. Many technicians, but few artists who use their art to explore their vision. - Derren Brown, Absolute Magic

If Uri Geller thinks that he is a magician/mentalist then I would love to say thank you.
If he thinks that he does/creates miracles or is a kind of demi-god ,may be I wouldn't even tip my hat to him.
BUT the fact remains that he created something new,a trend of metal bending almost 3 decades ago...that must have set off a trend among many innovators of today and many among us do add metal bending to our repertoire.

I was checking some of the ratings of Geller's show, and at one point it didn't even get to the top 10 list.. which is a horrible thing for a prime time program on channel 2.

For example, we are already on the 5th season of Rising Star (our version of American Idol), and it's still always in the top 5 every single week.

So anyone who thinks Geller's show was a success here, think again.

Heck I think you should thank Uri just for giving you something to do in your spare time.

P.S: I forgot who posted the suggestion to read Geller's book "MY STORY" (Don Theo, peraphs?)

I only wanted to add that I 100% agree with that suggestion.

That book is great - I recall that the first time I read it (I was young and crazy, back then) I did not loved it the same way I did when after quite some years I re-read it. Ideas and routines seemd to jump into my mind from reading that book only. Plus, Geller is, with Gustavo Adolfo Rol, Gerard Croiset and Olof Jonsson, one of the people who inspired me. I also suggest to read the more that you can on the other psyschics - especially Rol - had a wonderful life and his experiments were among the best psychic demonstrations one could have seen.

Yes Paolo that was me. I still think it was one of the most important books I read. And those who differ with Uri's take on things should still read it because it is VERY entertaining. For instance, Puharich and Uri's account of Uri's "teleportation" incident!

Cheers,

Don

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

There can be no "meaningful" discussion with a self-styled "Arguementalist" (sic) that "agrees with NOBODY!!!"

OK, I'm no lawyer, but an answer can be found in:

Yes, I do admit I've made mistakes and try to learn from them. Sometimes we are blind to our own flaws and need friends to point them out to us. You helped me in this reguard, and I thank you Arnon.

History has turned the page, uh huh ...
La de da de de, la de da de da

The movie quote I posted was Ted Kramer speaking to his son after his son (Billy) told him he hated him.

It is a more appropriate quote for you (Arnon) to say to Nate than quoting law cases concerning witnesses who are not available to testify or be available for cross examination. At least the movie quote is in cultural general knowledge, not legal specific knowledge. Plus the Kramer quote appears to be closer to your real feelings. It is also a quote that he could say to you. It works for both parties.

Seems like you judged my posting. Here is another quote from Ted Kramer (since we are stuck in the topic of law): “We're gonna be okay. Come on, let's go get some ice cream.”
