However, when the evidence is there to be seen, is more than merely the "tip of the scales," and to my mind is "beyond a reasonable doubt," the presumption of innocence vanishes like a bird cage. Arnon your last post would have a lot more meaning if you were not always accusing people of things even though you have not even looked at everything. Perhaps that is also a reason you did not become a prosecutor?

Despite the fact that only eight seconds of the over thirteen-minute video contain footage allegedly under copyright owned by Geller's corporation Explorogist Ltd. -- a classic fair use of the material for criticism purposes -- Geller filed a takedown demand with YouTube under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). That violates the DMCA requirement that copyright holders only send takedown notices for infringing content. I'm mystified by why anyone would want to praise this con man. Better to draw inspiration from an honest performer like Maurice Fogel, who did things more daring and spectacular than Geller (did Geller ever try a Russian Roulette routine?), who only presented himself as what he was - an entertainer.
There are many tricks, and many effects, but rarely a Grand Effect. There are many entertainers, but few real magicians. Many technicians, but few artists who use their art to explore their vision. - Derren Brown, Absolute Magic

Errr... About Fogel - I knew a different story. Maybe I was wrong...

If Uri Geller thinks that he is a magician/mentalist then I would love to say thank you.
If he thinks that he does/creates miracles or is a kind of demi-god ,may be I wouldn't even tip my hat to him. BUT the fact remains that he created something new,a trend of metal bending almost 3 decades ago...that must have set off a trend among many innovators of today and many among us do add metal bending to our repertoire. |

I was checking some of the ratings of Geller's show, and at one point it didn't even get to the top 10 list.. which is a horrible thing for a prime time program on channel 2.
For example, we are already on the 5th season of Rising Star (our version of American Idol), and it's still always in the top 5 every single week. So anyone who thinks Geller's show was a success here, think again. |

Heck I think you should thank Uri just for giving you something to do in your spare time.

OK, I'm no lawyer, but an answer can be found in:

History has turned the page, uh huh ...
La de da de de, la de da de da The movie quote I posted was Ted Kramer speaking to his son after his son (Billy) told him he hated him. It is a more appropriate quote for you (Arnon) to say to Nate than quoting law cases concerning witnesses who are not available to testify or be available for cross examination. At least the movie quote is in cultural general knowledge, not legal specific knowledge. Plus the Kramer quote appears to be closer to your real feelings. It is also a quote that he could say to you. It works for both parties. Seems like you judged my posting. Here is another quote from Ted Kramer (since we are stuck in the topic of law): “We're gonna be okay. Come on, let's go get some ice cream.” :jump: Tony |
