Hi Chad, was wonderign when you walk out the door, what do you keep in your pockets, or do you like to go out with nothing and work with objects that are around?

Also when working at gigs doing strolling, are you fully loaded or do you just carry a pack of cards and some coins. Cheers.

Hi Sean,

Hope you're well. Out the door, I usually just have some cards and coins on me, but when strolling, I'll add in some dupes, sponge balls, ID, and a couple other things. And then other times, I'll have the works on me! Take care!

You know I don't think you get a roll of lifesavers anymore . It must have been somethig else.

Hi David,

Thanks for asking, and I would like to comment. I've always enjoyed Lifesavers, especially the multi-colored, or "Five-Flavor" pack, if you will. They were created by a man named Clarence Arthur Crane who, interestingly enough, was the father of famed poet Hart Crane. One of his poems is included here:

At Melville's Tomb

Often beneath the wave, wide from this ledge
The dice of drowned men's bones he saw bequeath
An embassy. Their numbers as he watched,
Beat on the dusty shore and were obscured.

And wrecks passed without sound of bells,
The calyx of death's bounty giving back
A scattered chapter, livid hieroglyph,
The portent wound in corridors of shells.

Then in the circuit calm of one vast coil,
Its lashings charmed and malice reconciled,
Frosted eyes there were that lifted altars;
And silent answers crept across the stars.

Compass, quadrant and sextant contrive
No farther tides . . . High in the azure steeps
Monody shall not wake the mariner.
This fabulous shadow only the sea keeps.

Getting back to the Lifesavers though, an accurate timeline of the history of Lifesavers from Wikipedia is below, in case you're interested:

* 1912: Crane's Peppermint Life Savers created by Clarence Crane in Cleveland, Ohio.
* 1913: Edward Noble bought the Life Saver formula, renamed Pep-O-Mint Life Savers, and started Mint Products Company in New York City.
* 1924: The first fruit flavors were produced as solid candies.
* 1929: Technology improved to allow a hole in the center of the fruit candies.
* 1931: Life Savers Limited acquired Beech-Nut and the two merged companies became Squibb Beech-Nut Inc.
* 1935: The Original Five-Flavor roll of Life Savers debuted.
* 1975: Bubble Yum soft bubble gum launched.
* 1981: Nabisco Brands Inc. acquired Life Savers from the E.R. Squibb Corporation.
* 1987: Canadian Life Savers business acquired by Hershey Canada.
* 1996: Canadian Life Savers business acquired by Beta Brands Limited.
* 2004: USA Life Savers business Acquired By Wrigley's.[5]

Speaking of Wrigley's, I was at Wrigley Field a long time ago, and actually bought some Lifesavers there, way before Wrigley's ever thought about buying the company. I just found that interesting, and quite prophetic, as I look back on it now. I can't remember the flavor that I got that day, because there are just so many to choose from...well, again from Wikipedia:

Original Five-Flavor roll (1935–2003):

* Cherry
* Lemon
* Lime
* Orange
* Pineapple

New Five-Flavor roll (2003–present):

* Cherry
* Blackberry (then replaced by Orange due to consumer demand)
* Pineapple
* Watermelon
* Raspberry

Other flavors, packaged separately:

* Pep-O-Mint (Peppermint) (first Life Savers flavor, introduced in 1912)
* Butter Rum
* Wint-O-Green (Wintergreen flavored)
* Spear-O-Mint (Spearmint)
* Musk (sold chiefly in Australia)
* Thirst (sold chiefly in Australia) )a citrus flavour)
* Wild Cherry
* Hot Cin-O-Mon (Cinnamin)
* Cryst-O-Mint
* Hot Rings (sweet and spicy)(promotional flavor around the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3)
* Blue Rad (blue raspberry)(promotional flavor around the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3)
* Orange Mint (introduced 2006)
* Sweet Mint (introduced 2006)
* Rasberry Fizz (Australia)
* Orange Fizz (Australia)
* Strawberry Sundae (Australia)
* Blackcurrant Pastille (Australia)
* Fruit Pastille (Australia)

Other Five-Flavor rolls:

* Tropical Fruits Five-Flavor roll (Fruit Punch, Pina Colada, Mango, Tangerine, Banana)
* Tangy Fruits Five-Flavor roll (Watermelon, Green Apple, Strawberry, Tangy Tangerine, Banana)
* Wild Berries Five-Flavor roll (Strawberry, Red Raspberry, Black Raspberry, Blackberry, Cherry)
* Chill-O-Mints Five-Flavor roll (Wintergreen, Spearmint, Vanilla Mint, Peppermint)

Creme Savers flavors:

* Strawberries & Creme
* Chocolate & Caramel Creme
* Raspberries & Creme
* Orange & Creme
* Butter Toffee & Creme
* Peaches & Creme (Limited Edition)
* Piña Colada (Limited Edition Tropicals Pack)
* Banana & Creme (Limited Edition Tropicals Pack)
* Mango & Creme (Limited Edition Tropicals Pack)
* Apple Pie a la Mode (Desserts Pack)
* Cinnamon Bun (Desserts Pack)
* Strawberry Cheesecake (Desserts Pack)

Of course, sadly, some other flavors aren't around anymore, and I've listed them here for completeness:

Discontinued flavors:

* Anise
* Butterscotch
* Choc-O-Mint
* Cinn-O-Mon
* Cl-O-Ve
* Cola
* Grape
* Lic-O-Rice
* Molas-O-Mint
* Root Beer
* Stik-O-Pep
* Vi-O-Let
* Tangerine
* Coconut (was part of Tropical Fruits roll)
* Floral

I won't even go into all the other products based on Lifesavers, like the jelly beans and ice cream, because I haven't really tried all of them and don't feel qualified to comment.

To answer your question though, I can say without a doubt, those were Lifesavers in my pocket...

If you chew the wintergreen lifesavers in the dark they make sparks.

Hey Chad,

When you say that you,"haven't really tried all of them and don't feel qualified to comment." Do you meant hat you haven't stuck these things in your pants yet?

My guess would be that the "ice cream" would make the "life savers" shrink.

Williamson...you are one crazy mo-fo!
