Flight Deck by John Kennedy - Cover any glass with a deck of cards. Toss a coin toward the glass - it disappears and visually materializes with a loud clink inside the glass. Sounds pretty good. And for $300 it probably should be. Just wondering if anyone has this and what do you think about it? Is it worth the cost for what the effect is?

If anyone is not familiar with this effect, scroll down to the flight deck video demo. |

I don't think it is worth the price.

Thanks for everyone's 2 cents. I think I'll pass on it.

I had one and developed my own routine with it. I had a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately I had to part with it due to financial trouble.

I could recreate this with a VERY cheap gimmick.

It's actually a real nice effect. Usually the expensive tricks are. My son made me one for about $40.00, but you have to know a lot about electronics.

Can you actually use the box to carry around a working deck? Or does is the box its own seperate effect?

I've asked folks for well over twenty years now what sort of weird thing is it to put the card case over a glass... and why not use your wallet instead?
maybe someday...

After doing a real strong coin trick... right... pick a card.
now that is just sad.

Let's not jump to conclusions....
If I'd been performing with cards for a bit it might be quite natural to "leave the deck on this handy glass" while I show you something with coins, no? Well, I'm certain I could structure something of that sort pretty easily... Actually JT, I like the wallet idea, for the same reason I like paper money for a matrix [or I would go for cards and poker chips if I wasn't a silver addict!]. Thanks for the thought, as usual! |

The box is ungimmicked, use whatever box you wish. The gimmick is absolutely top notch, very well designed and made. If the premise appeals to you, then I think you'll be happy with this effect. The video shows you exactly what the trick looks like (unlike most demo videos), so you know what you'll be getting, in terms of effect. As with all effects, some suit us, others do not, only you can be the judge of that. As for making one, I am sure that it is possible to make one for less that the price of the flight deck, but unless you are a very skilled craftsman, it will be nowhere as elegant as Kennedy's (I am a professional furnitiremaker, and am very conscious of workmanship in magic props, most of which is quite poorly made, which is why I often make my own).
