Not sure if anyone saw, since it hasn't gotten much promotion. And I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for the itricks.com podcast but there is an American version of the show making a debut tonight on the TruTV network

Goodness, I loved that show as I watched countless hours of it on youtube.
But I just went to the link and the discussion board. People are ripping the American version. Calling it fake, saying the marks are actors. Now, I haven't seen the show yet, but is it THAT obvious? Another complain is this show breeds criminal. Some self-righteous former police has these harsh words to say http://boards.trutv.com/showthread.php?t=239 Give me a break... can people just STFU for once? I also like how they call Apollo a poser, that he has nothing on the real hustlers out there....... I wish Apollo reads it and tracks the dude down...

The UK version had the same complaints and being that the US version's first season is almost a carbon copy of the scams that were pulled in the first season of the UK version I can see where they are coming from. While I don't think it is "fake" so to speak, I do believe that it has some creative television editing as in we aren't seeing the whole picture. We're seeing what we need to in order for the creators to get their point across. Make a decision for yourself, I enjoyed the American version for what it was, entertainment. Breeding criminals? Yeah I think that's a bit of an overreaction. If they don't like the show I'm assuming that they have the ability to change the channel.

There show is here quitte a long time, but I love it

They also use maney sleight of had, but they are pickpocketing everybody haha. |

don't think they pickpocket EVERYONE...... just lots! Its a reat show - a friend of mine consults for the program.

I absolutely love that when the UK Hustlers finally decided to show 3 Card Monte, they went all the way including exposing the reality of 3 Card Monte as a pickpocketing scam and not a gambling scam as so many people believe it to be.
"The New Monte" that they showed on the US version was pretty lame. And they didn't bother with the pickpocketing part despite the fact that Apollo Robbins is one of the Hustlers... Lame. |
