I bought the jumping knot of pakistan routine about a month ago and the red rope is starting to "shrink" where the white part is on it. I don't know how many of you perform this trick so you might not know what I'm talking about, but basicly part of an expensive rope is becoming smaller in one spot. how could I make it "bigger" or wider, for width is the only thing decreasing. okay thanks a lot

What knot are you using? There are several to choose from that require different amounts of red rope. The rope is cheap knitted yarn, it is the DVD that you paid for.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, al. I don't think it came with a size, and it's the white part that's sewn into the red rope that is too small and is a lot smaller than the solo white knot. does that help?

You have a red knitted piece of rope with a small white piece woven into it, and the white piece is shrinking. When you tie the knot in the white piece you have a choice of several different knots. What knot are you using?

You can try the figuer 8 knot, and the one that is the smallest is the Hull vanishing knot. I'm a little busy now but I will look it up later and tell you where to find it later. I hope you have access to some rope books.

You can get an interesting slip knot if you do the Hunter puzzle knot but don't do the secret move.

I am trying to make the knot bigger, not smaller, is that what all these knots you just told me do?

The knot that will use the most of the white part of the red piece of rope is the Hunter bow knot. I thought you said that the white part was shrinking, now you tell me that the white part is stretching. Either way RJenkins, and I have given you several knots th experiment with.

I'm looking for a way to return the white part back to it's original size, not a new knot to use.

You can wet it, put a weight on the end, and hang it out to dry. It is just yarn, so treat like you would treat a sweater.
Joshua I find it dufficult to kick a field goal when you keep moving the goal post on me. RJenkins This is an American expression.

"Moving the goalposts" is a British expression too. Something to do with soccer, I believe.
Looking back though I think Joshua's original message was ambiguous, and we misunderstood him.

Thanks for the help al and rjenkins, but I've decided to just buy another one because that's just so much easier.

I have a custom made Acrobatic knot that Pavel made for me. It will never shrink, but it is not cheap. I suggest you ask Pavel how much he charges, before you but another yarn one that also might shrink.

Well I just contacted daryl and this is what he said
This is not a problem. Simply WASH the ropes (using a gentle cycle in a washing machine) and they will shrink back to normal. I did that but still the ropes look the same. I think I might go with your idea al and order from pavel. thanks a lot. josh

You ask a simple question and 14 posts later you've got an answer. As I said there are several knots you can use, so if you tell Pavel which one you use he will make the appropriate gimmick for you, and be sure to tell him I said hi. Also tell Pavel you want the white part closer to the end than the middle.
