Darn! I feel bad for Kevin. He tried his best and stuck with his game plan, it’s just too bad that it wasn’t well received. Hey he took a chance. S. Happens!
But the thing I liked most was his professionalism. Anyone can stand in the glow of praise but only a TRUE Man can remain humble in the face of criticism! He stood there and took it like a man. Bravo! I know Kevin is the type to use it to his advantage! I’ve been a fan for many years and know he will bounce back with something that will surely blow the roof off the place! My favs from last night: The Young girl The Glamazons Butterscotch The Karate guys Jonny come Lately |

I felt bad for him because peirce practically revealed the secret, but Justin is right. He stayed very respectful and took it like a man and a true performer.

I too was confused and disappointed by Kevin's act last night. My problem is mostly connected to his choice of effect. It was much less of a magic act than a halloween gag. He is an awesome magician with a great library of effects. I am not certain if getting buzzed threw him off or not, but the ending was SOOOOO awkward for Kevin. I am a huge fan and I was very sad to see the way it went last night, but it would be absolutely unfair to throw rocks when I have also tipped a gaff or exposed something in a performance. I did not have some snooty English twit call me out in front of a national audience though. Bravo to Kevin for not going backstage to get his chainsaw!!!

Some think Houdini used trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage.

What I find interesting is the audience's reaction ... boo'ing Peirs, and cheering Kevin on.
I also know that this show is cutting acts to the hilt, meaning that most likely Kevin did more than we actually saw. Like the way they showed a clip from last week with the severed body walking on his hands - which they didn't show us last week. Still may not have been the greatest choice, but it looks like an AGT spin job to me. I would like to see the acts uncut, like on the Gong Show. He may also be obligated to keep the "shock magic" angle, since Jerry mentioned his illusions were "downright creepy". Wouldn't be prudent to do a romantic floating rose after that intro. I've heard David and Dania were not allowed to do anything other than quick change last year, which explains why the had to do the same thing over and over - and then take the hits for it. Overall, this show is just downright dirty ... not one of those judges know anything about variety entertainment, two of them aren't even American and Hasslesuff belongs overseas where people actually like him. The whole show is just plain stupid. -JoeJoe

The audience is not always just boo'ing Peirs ... they will turn on performers as well. I'm just saying we did not see the entire act - we saw an edited version put together by the producers to present Kevin's material the way they saw fit ... not the way Kevin actually presented it. I'm not saying it was the greatest thing he could have done, I'm just saying we didn't actually see what he did do. -JoeJoe

If you read knifethrower's comments, he stated they cut out a lot of his throws and they edit it to show what they want. Looks like the same thing happened to Kevin.

Had NO idea that Criss Angel and David Blaine were the executive producers of this show....

Criss and Blaine use editing to imrpove their effects, not ruin it..

If you see it that way, the desired effect has been enhanced by camera cuts =P

Hmmmm
Kevin normally doesn't do anything that doesn't HAVE to be done for the routine to succeed. He's ultra effecient. To dress up in that garb, fill the stage with fog, etc... all for the severed hand routine... well... I definitely think there was more planned than what we saw.

I don't think there can be any doubt that the producers are cutting video ... as a build up to the severed hand, they showed a clip from last week where the severed body was walking around the stage on his hands ... only, they did not show that part of the act last week. This knowledge has totally ruined the show for me - we're talking total fraud going on.
Kevin may not have done something as impressive as his operating room illusion, but he certainly did something more impressive than they showed us on TV. -JoeJoe

JoeJoe,
I noticed that too. And watching a clip of him doing that routine normally, is just SO much better. How are we suppose to vote if the clips can be completely edited to make someone look bad just so more people can talk about how stupid an act was. |

How are we suppose to vote if the clips can be completely edited to make someone look bad just so more people can talk about how stupid an act was. I thought that was the allure of reality TV. Would American Idol be the TV hit it is if it didn't go out of its way to show the bad singers? And its no real secret the producers of that show push certain performers. Its why VoteForTheWorst.com is so disruptive. That website encourages people to vote for singers that the producers set up to fail. America's Got Talent is made by the same people. So it should come as no surprise they edit the show to push the people they want to push. |

I can understand showing the bad people, to have a laugh at them. But to make it worse or cutting out key elements (if there was more to Kevin's act) in it that normally make it so much better is not the same.
Even completely editing it so it looks terrible, would be okay by me (somewhat) if there was no voting. |
