Hi, I'm wondering about obtaining Kennedy Halves, since I will be getting a Johnson Hopping Half set (half dollar e******d-[ ). I don't need silver coins, etc, and I want to buy them in small quantities.
I saw the 3-pack at Ellusionist. Is this good? I'd like to get the coins online. Thanks, Sam |

Look at Themagicwarehouse.com
It is 85 cents for one. |

Wow!!! Very good price. Are there any other sources closer to face value (if not themagicwarehouse is good for me, are they reliable)?

Well, you can look at the picture.

Sam, themagicwarehouse is definitely reliable. Also, you can't get much closer to 50 cents than the 85 cents being asked for the coins. That's pretty reasonable.
Try driving across town and getting them, if you can (they may not be sold where you live), and see how much it costs you then! Mark. |

Kennedy Halves are still minted and available by the rolls or indvidually at the bank for their face value.

Yeah, just go to the bank. These stores are making a killing on face-value coins.
Silver Ones, now that is another story.

If your paying more then 50 cents for a a non-silver half someone is laughing all the way to the bank ( to get more coins to sell you )

I went to my bank about a month ago and got a whole roll at face value. Worked out good. Some were 1976 which matched my C/S coin and the rest were 1974 which match my Scotch and Soda.

The question is, can you walk into a bank in a country other than the U.S. and get the coins.

Is it legal to send them out of the U.S.?
I'd have no problem getting them at the bank for somebody, and mailing them. |

You can ship US coins overseas. There are some limitations based on total dollar value and some limitations based on the type of coin, but generally, the quantities we are discussing here are not in danger of reaching either threshhold, unless someone gets into the business of doing this....
The bigger issue you have with selling money is making sure the payer pays with good money or does not dispute the shipment received (and receive a charge back)... Also, some countries mail systems are a threat to coins and currencies during the customs search and the local delivery service... Finally, money is more likely to catch a customs fee on the receiving end since its value can be easily determined and the tax is easily collected by the goods itself if the receiver won't pay....... I ship some coins on occaision to my brother in law and son in the Philipppines since they have an interest in magic... When I do, I combine a magic book, magic magazine, or coin trick with the coins and just label the shipment as a magic trick/prop with instructions. I still state the value accurately in total. The exact type of coins I send are used in either the book, magazine or accompanying trick instructions, and the packages are rarely searched..... James |

Go to a coin shop. They have all I need for extra coins.

Speaking of coins, today a friend gave me 4 Eisenhowers that she found kicking around.
Nice surprise. |

I give another vote for http://www.themagicwarehouse.com for post 1964 half dollars. Yes, you'll pay more than face value. I've gone to the bank many times asking for half dollars. They have them, but they're not usually in very good condition. I usually end up putting them in my son's piggy bank because they have who knows what stuck on them.
The coins from the magic warehouse are in very good condition. The magic warehouse has many fine effects. Finally, if you do try to purchase an item, it will let you know if it is out of stock. |

The bank I use is a small independent back and they will order new half dollars for me. I received several excellent condition rolls last time. And in the older rolls I have pulled out a few silver for those that are into that kind of thing. |
