Just took out some from a wallet and they were warped. Also, how to you bring them out, in performance, if they can't come out of a regular deck? For Bwave I like to bring the queens out from a deck, but for Wild card that doesn't work? Is there a good wallet? Or maybe a z fold to make wild card examinable? Thoughts?
Thanks, Frank |

One idea is to keep those packets that can't be taken from the deck in a Z-wallet, with a somewhat thick poster board insert in the pockets. Also keep them in a breast pocket rather than a pants pocket where a lot of movement happen and will warp the cards.

The plastic wallets with clear pockets seem to keep the cards flat, in my experience. I keep my Wild Card set in one of these.
I believe Darwin Ortiz uses a Himber wallet for Wild Card to switch out the cards at the end. I use a mini-Himber wallet for Ultimate Monte for the same reason. I think it's always best to take the cards out of the deck, but I see no problem in pulling out a packet trick wallet once in a while. I guess Joe Porper should make packet trick clips! Robert |

That's not a crazy idea. What is the difference between a z fold, which I know, and a himber? Is one better? Could somebody PM me?

I picked up one of Josh Jay's Pro Carriers when he lectured here in Chicago a year or so back. He recommended it for me to carry around the cards for my wild card routine. I carry a full deck, the wild card set, set ups for "Gypsy (Hindu) Thread and a poker chip for a routine. Keeps both the deck and wild card set in perfect condition. Here's the ad copy from his site. He also has pictures of it there. I highly reccomend it.
"Simply put, this is the nicest pocket props case available to close-up workers. Used by many top names in magic, the Pro Carrier is also used by thousands of magicians worldwide. It is also Joshua's best-selling item, and for good reason: the Pro Carrier is a small case (it’s nearly indistinguishable from some of the leather cell phone and PDA holsters you see every day) that can fit into your pocket or be worn on your belt. It is made of high-quality black leather. It has a slot for a deck of cards, two slots for extra or gimmicked cards, a window for packet tricks, a window for business cards, and a coin purse with a zipper. When closed or worn on the belt, the business card window faces out. Use it to keep a mini-show’s worth of essentials handy for impromptu magic … to keep your “practice props” within reach of your DVDs or at chair-side … to contain your close-up basics in one place in your brief bag or carry-on while traveling … or as an integral part of your load set-up for performances. Priced unbelievably low for its quality, the Pro Carrier is an amazing value. Price: $20 " |

I use the cheap plastic containers that the packets trick come and staple them together - no more than 4 - down the spine which gives you 6-8 tricks in a free container. All you do then is put stickers on the the clear windows to identify them....works great.

There is one that looks promising here, named "Leather Packet Trick Wallet", a little down from the top. It may be too big, I don't know. http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/Wallets.html
For my credit cards (well, I don't have any actual credit cards. Sigh.) I have just a thin stiff leather holder with metal sheets sown inside it. Very thin and virtually indestructible. It has been in my jeans pocket every day for maybe ten years with hardly any wear. Would be great to have that for cards. "Double sided card holder" towards the bottom of the same page looks like it could be useful too, as does a few others. I'm sure there are better descriptions of these same items on other pages but it's past 4am here and I can't focus well enough to Google them. It's a great site, just not too informative. Also it's in the UK.

The packet wallets from penguinmagic.com . They are vinyl and come with skinner monte or b'wave. for .99, you can't beat that. Jerry o connel wallets aren't a bad idea either. I am thinking of getting a new one(mine has been through a lot). Is wizardcraftmagic.com a good place to order the packet trick holder?

This may help you decide:
http://magicref.tripod.com/magref/magwallet.htm The only wallet I own is Bob King's older "Solution Wallet". Shirt-pocket size Himber-type wallet. "Z" fold type with pass-through feature. You might want to look at his "New Solution Wallet": http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/bkingmagic/GenMagic.htm |

Jerry O'Connell all the way!
I've got a 'Jerry' original 6 packet trick holder (hand tooled by Jerry himself) that I'll NEVER part with. I store my packet tricks in the cheap plastic card cases on the magic shelf, but I'd never bring one of those things out in front of specs. I also carry ungaffed matching cards in a couple of original Jerry O'Connell Himbers to match those tricks I do all the time, Skinners Monte, Entourage, and a bunch of Nick Trost effects from his book. |

I just went to a dollar store and found what is basically what packet tricks come in except with a bunch of clear plastic sleeves/pockets to hold them. Give them any line and they will eat it up. The cards hold special value to you, you bought them from the 3 card monte guy that fooled you, they are psychologically chosen cards, it's faster than fishing through a deck, I don't want to bend cards from every deck I use so I keep a set in here ect. ect.
There is a wild card routine on one of Tommy Wonder's videos that is outstanding, I didn't even know he was doing wild card at the beginning.

I went and got a magnetic himber from hollywood magic but it doesn't work because the packet (wildcard) is too thick for the magnet. And I only do a seven card wildcard but that adds up to 14 cards and the little wallet can't handle it. Guess I'm looking for a packet switch of some kind. I'd love any thoughts you guys have.
