Don't know if I am spelling this right, but just saw something interesting.
A student was playing with a coin using his hand and feet. He would kick the coin up and catch it on the palm of his hand flip it up and catch it with his palm down hand .(on the flat fingers) Then he would flip it up and catch it with his foot and repeat the process.... He named it skirl(sic). Any of our younger magicians(or oldies like me) heard of it? Harris

When I was a kid growing up in Yorkshire, UK, we called it Clippy-uppy, or flippy-uppy. When done with a football (Soccerball -US) and using only the feet, it was called Keepy-uppy.
There was also a great coin game called Shove Ha'penny. I'm sure ALL your Brit posters will remember that one! |

I have seen it for years with small balls and such, but this morning was the first time seen(by this guy) with a coin.
Any other Brit(or others) know the name of this thing with the feet and a coin? Harris

Harris, If I remember correctly way back when hacky sacks started becoming popular, I saw a thing about where the origin of the HS came from. There was a coin or a few coins (maybe glued together) with something like feathers glue to their top, so when the they were kicked (or hackied) around they wouldn't just drop with a hard thud. Also the flat surface of the coin allowed the hackier to catch it of different parts of the body instead of rolling off like a ball would.
Hope this helps, Joe

Garrett Thomas does this with a coin, he used to use it to gather a crowd for street shows, along with a bunch of other eye-popping flourishes. I don't think he had a cute name for it, though.

I've seen Tiger do some amazing hacky sack-like stuff with a golf club. I'm sure he probably could do a thing of two with a coin...He has enough of them.

Yes, the Buck brothers can do things that look like they might take literally thousands of hours to do consistantly.
I've never seen it done with a coin, but that may be a nice attention getting little flourish, even if you just do one kick at the right time. Another idea that I just thought of, and wondering if anyone has ever done it...has anyone ever juggled 3 or 4 coins during a routine? Produce, juggle, hacky sack kick, vanish. |

Charley Frye does a few juggling moves on his coin routines. Adds them like a flourish. Nice!
