Ryan... I love the renderings you did! Exactly what I had pictured in my mimd; however, your rendering exceeded it! very-very cool!!! Thank you so much...Stephanie says "Ooh Pretty!!!"
LOL... yah, I wondered if anyone caught on to that? Now I need to locate a cool pedistal base like the one Ryan drew... Thanks again everyone! If we go through with this and build, paint, and perform this... I will be sure to share it with my Café' buddies! -Bryan p.s.- My wife mentioned wanting a matching pink ATA to pack all of this in... Yikes, I've created a monster! |

Too bad that I am not going to upload it because you already did it and I don't want to make it look like we have a 3d art contest. Great job!!! All the best, Titanas

Ok "THIS IS NOT AN 3D ART CONTEST" now that's out of the way. .. . . hits with the goods. Lets see different revisions or suggestions on the original drawing. Could be a cool thing to brainstorm with different takes . .
Would only help with the end product for him. A note about his design: I've NEVER ever thought of working with the color pink. But. ITS A HECK of a choice wheen breaking up those colors. Worked up so well. I even added some extra space on the base and box to the left. GOOD JOB BRYAN - your instincts on this design really proved to be simple and effective. |

Titanis, I would love to see your rendering... You know... it's always a pleasure to see what others invinsion in their minds...
Ryan- once again you totally blow my mind with your artistic abilities! I would love to see some of my other concepts go across your "drawingboard"! You brought this idea to life! -Bryan |

I think I'll come up with a few ideas and see if I can't give this one a go as well. I however, will be drawing it on a cocktail napkin in pink lipstick for effect.
But seriously, I'm all for throwing some ideas out there!

I usedthe assistants, in our illusion show to perform complementary sffects to the magic show, like Plate spinning, or a houla hoop act like in the circus.
I had an assitant, who won a national title as a beauty queen, She sang some wonderfull songs. When she was on the stage I worked the sound system, When I was on the stage she was "Mismade" but I didn't sing and she didn't wave the magic wand. Why not teach your wife to do a party show and she can book her own events? That would give her what she wants and you then retain your place in your show. After all,,, she might be better then you,

Bryan, this is not a fully formed idea but maybe it can give you a jumping off point.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyvaa5zFC......;search= How about playing this short clip and then talk about how times have changed the relationship between the magician and his wife / assistant. You can say - Back in the day a magician was supported by his wife and assistant but today I am happy to support her, ladies and gentlemen ________ Gilles. Have her walk into the audience and look for a daring man, a man that can trust her. You then say man I can’t watch this I got to go, that’s your exit and your wife proceeds to do the Mike Pitcher and News Paper bit but with some funny patter. I can see her telling the man to trust here as she vanishes the mike over his head. At the end he stands up to accept his applause and she says – see you can trust me. Just as she says this she puts a Kick Me sign on his back and has him sit back down. After that maybe she does the Owens Magic - Master Mix Cocktail Shakers bit. I think it could be a fun and funny routine that will play well and endear your wife to the audience. To close the routine and get you back on stage your wife could say if I lived back in the day this is how that video would have played. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsFskKZYD......;search= Once the video is done your wife can say - Ok, Bryan you can come back now. As you walk back on stage you are seen drying off a plate like you have been doing the dishes or better yet cleaning the next illusion. Bryan, I can see you saying sorry I got to do this as you walk into the audience and gets the kick me sign off the man but as you turn and walk back to the stage the audiences sees you have one to, your can say kick me harder. Just an idea or part of an idea, do with it what you may. Lance |

Lance,
I like your idea! Especially the part where I come back out drying a plate... I could see wearing a frilly apron and wearing those over-sized yellow rubber gloves too! The "Kick Me" sign idea is great too! We'll have to play around with it! Thanks for the great ideas everyone! -Bryan |

Bryan,
After listening to four very talented and experienced lady magicians talk about their experience in magic at the SAM convention (Celeste Evans, Gay Blackstone, Trixie Bond, and Debbie Leifer), one lady in the audience who does magic with her husband addressed a question to this formidable group about getting taken seriously as a magician on her own. Their advise was 1) dress feminine (no masculine tails , tux etc.) 2) Don't be his assistant in any trick or him yours, if you use assistants get somebody else to be the assistant. Other than that advise, I'd say you seem to have a pretty good routine lined up for her, just make sure it is something she can work into her own style and she can put showmanship into. The trick isn't near as important as the presentation and showmanship. Even magicians sometimes forget the lady coming out of the box did all the work, the magician just waived his arms around and took the bow. But audiences are so geared to men being magicians and women being assistants, it is best to make sure she stands out as a solo performer even if you work a running "Bickerson's" routine with her (did I just date myself or what?) Don't script it in any way that she looks like an assistant.
"Now here's the man with the 25 cent hands, that two bit magician..."

What software was used for the renderings, I wish I had the a ability in that area.
I wish you and your wife well with her addition to the act, it sounds like a great idea, well thought out and well planed. It is to bad my wife takes no interest in my show. I would love to have her work as my assistant, I did get here to pose with a supper-x for the avatar photo. |
