Has anybody ever heard of this trick...it starts off with the performer talking about death and the effects of it, such as decay...slowly but surley the performer's face begins wot decay in front of the audiance until his head is a skull...does anybody know the name of this demonstration?

Probably The Face by Borodin. Do a search on these terms and you will find a few threads on the topic.

Yes, it is The Face, and I have performed this on stage using something from Kryelin.
Can provide more details via PM Steve

George Kirkendall did something very similar many years ago as well, and there are similar (but IMO less effective) methods found in Movie Monster makeup books.

BBOB (Bigger Book of Boo) had something to this effect in it as well, if I'm not mistaken?

After doing some research: it is not as .. elaboarate as the face, but rather a way of getting some spooky light effect to your face in small close up situations .. so it does not sound as elaborate as the face..
Seaking of .. I've been looking through the threads, and I have so far been unable to find a thread that has any real performance picture of "The Face". The animation at the website that sells it looks more like a computer genereated face with an image of a skull on it with different opacities Since I'm working on a routine where I kill my colleague on stage in various painful ways, something like this could be interesting to add, if it looks good enough..

this is what the effect would look like... kinda... there is also an extensive topic on this subject in secret sessions under UV lighting effects...

Thanks, silvertoungue ... that clarifies the end of the skeletal look ..
I know there are places in the secret sessions, but I'm still working up my posts .. Apart from running the biggest magic forum in scandinavia (magi,nu) (it's mostly in swedish, unfortunately), there is so much on here already written, so I find myself reading and reading and reading and not really having that much input on things... yet so .. I've got to find the time to be more constructive and creative on here first =)

One of the earliest film versions of Jekyll and Hyde used a vaguely similar technique for the facial transformation(but that one will only work on B/W film).
"Unlike the mere Conjuror, the Mentalist reaches into that space which a hat normally covers. And from there, he withdraws something more fleeting - and at times, far fuzzier - than any rabbit"
