I am constantly burdened with requests to perform quick, on the spot tricks at a moments notice. I sometimes manage to keep my HotRod close by however on those days I forget, I always find I am asked the most to show a trick. Do you have any suggestions for tricks that fit in a wallet? Perhaps some strong packet tricks?

Wonderland Dollar by Nick Brown. It's (in my opinion) the best wallet trick there is!

I am in the same boat so I always carry a thumb tip for torn and restored sweetner packet, burnt and restored paper napkin, instant vanish of cigarette or match, vanish of water in a bill, bill switch, sugar to candy, etc. I also always have access to rubber bands so I do Pinnacle and crazy mans handcuffs, ring that climbs band.
I don't carry packet tricks as I don't have the pocket space( they are already stuffed with pens, tape, bandage sissors etc.) and prefer to do "magic" with what is at hand.Re-cap is good.
I have a couple packet tricks I would like to carry but don't for the above reasons as well as the fact they take to long to perform and I only have time for fairly short effects in which the spectators don't have to touch, hold ,choose, shuffle etc. It is also for that reason I don't often get to do cards.
Most of what I do is at work in a resthome for the residents and co-workers.
Life is too important to take seriously.

The best bet is to learn a few sleight of hand tricks with common objects.
By doing this you will always be prepared.

My IMP site may also be helpful.
Take a look at the 'Apparent Impromptu' section.

If you got coins, use them for stuck, 3coins across, disappearances, slights, routines, etc.
If you got money, use them for ghost bills or the Juan Hundred Dollar Bill Switch.
If you got a pen, use it for Recap or do some striking vanishes with it.
Use your imagination. Anything can look impromptu if you put your mind to it. Smile

I keep five things on me at all times:

1. 2 dollar change
2. 1 to five transfer
3. thumb tip
4. Gregory Wilson's Hundy 500
5. business cards (just think about how many effects you can do with this and you have a lot more then 5)

Peace

I'm probably gonna get bashed on this but I don't think the Wonderland Bill is really all that great. It seems to me like more of a puzzle then magic. I can think of a few bill effects with borrowed bills play so much stronger. Not to mention prepared bills but...the fact that its a single bill and folds up teeny tiny in your wallet makes up for it. It packs really small.

I carry a pen and some loose change. With these, one can perform strong magic.

Business card or center tear. Just do some mind reading trick, better yet steal a watch using a coin for misdirection. Stealing watches will ALWAYS get reactions

You should check out On the Spot with Gregory Wilson:

Seems like it's right up your alley!
"Mommy, what's that man doing up there?"
"He's putting on a Blindfold, my dear."
"What's a Blindfold, Mommy?"
"Something you wear so that you cannot see."
"Why's he wearing one, Mommy?"
"So that he can tell us what he's looking at." -

Four wadded up balls of anything. Bills, sticky notes, straw wrappers, anything.

Do a two in the hand one in the pocket.
About 5-6 phases with either a vanish or a switch (to a coin) to end it.

Wherever you are, you should be able to borrow coins or bills, and in most places a pen. Wilson's "On the Spot" or several good coin magic videos will carry you a long way.

I carry Kolossal Killer and a set of ESP cards I found in a book. If there's not enough money (most of the time, in other words) I carry Entourage.
