The one with the guy jumping clear of the train is very good.Wonder how he creates these?

Reminds me of the special effects in the old Ratchet and Clank videogame commercials, where they test out the weapons.

Rachet and Clank! Some of the best commercials I love this. . .
As for the train thing: There were two shots. One pass with the train. The other. Green-screen. Then matted together and used computer software to stabilize tracking for the guy. (and the taking away of the guy when the train hits em) VFX 101. Very basic stuff. I'll try to put something together to demonstrate this. Using matt & matchmove technology *using motion 3 software made from Apple. ~R. |

Ryan-
Are you speaking of the first or second train video...? I'm not so sure that the actor pass was green screen in the second. |

Although I totally disagree with using FX for live "MAGIC" for TV : Here is an example for you. Something I threw together using motion 3 Maybe slightly more magical, A moving glass with weird smoke and light thingy I threw together. Using a matte / Composite shot background plate , match move of the matte to the glass, particle smoke system and particle light emitter.
Showing the FX shot AND the one without FX side by side... Your going to need a broadband connection & flash player 9 to see this (only about 5 megs total) FX SHOT: (be patient while loading) http://illusionentertainment.com/dcgame/fx1/index.html ORIGINAL SHOT: http://illusionentertainment.com/dcgame/fx2/index.html |

About the motionless fade: its a sign of two things: (just that they were messing around & did not know what they were doing and or they were rushed) They should have let the particle emitter run out. Instead of using the video to fade the effect. Its a fun concept . and cool video though. As strange and slightly sick as it may be.
I do LOVE the Clank video's. Would be really funny / cool to do that somehow for a magic special , like . .. testing MAGIC equipment or something in a "REAL " setting where the equipment is totally ridiculous like an ANTI GRAV gun or something .. would make for an interesting commercial. Otherwise. Leave the FX for the movies...... Just me though... ~R (on a very major side note: I feel the direction the stage is headed. We're going to be able to make MATRIX type effects happen very realisticly on stage.) Going to be VERY cool. . . Stay tuned. . . |
