Finally found a player that would play this. After viewing, and it is indeed clever, I'm still going to have to side with the version from The AOA book. It's just aesthetically far more pleasing, in my opinion.
It's all in the reflexes.

As I put in another post... its been talked about UV nightshades being an Ellusionist exclusive. At least that was what was said by Brad C. in their forum... but its up in the air as far as I know still.

UV Nightshades is currently exclusive to the Astonishent Project and available now. At one point it was possible that ellusionist would share the exclusive with us but that is no longer the case....

Having now spent some more time with this, I'll give a more detailed assessment.
In the end, I find that it's simply not enough of a payoff for the work involved. The reactions to the impromptu version in Paul's book are very good. Always have been. I find that they are no stronger with this version, therefore I can't see going to all of the extra trouble and housekeeping required here. Just not necessary, in my opinion. On top of that, I feel that pushing up the glasses with your hand in the impromptu version is actually more aesthetically pleasing. There are no jerky motions and, in fact, isn't that how we push up a pair of sunglasses in the real world? It just makes more sense to me. I'll also add that, after doing this over and over and over, I find it to be inconsistent, mechanically speaking. That is to say, it did not work for me every time. Now, this may not be the experience of everyone who received it, and I won't go into detail so as not to expose the modus operandi.
It's all in the reflexes.

Feel free to PM me and I will help you troubleshoot your difficulty. The extra housekeeping you mention is a plus for the walk-around magician like myself. Properly organized the re-set is easily done on the fly. This method also allows you to more openly handle the bill or even set it on a table in front of the spectator before doing the effect. Aesthetically, you now have the option to do the effect the UV way, the AOA way or the Cyril way, but I recommend you ask for Cyril's blessing to do that. Another nice thought is to just cast a shadow over the bill and George puts the glasses up himself. The shadow effect has logic and there is no need for the tiny shake. Yes indeed, in the real world when it gets dark I put my shades up but I don't cover them with my hand first. However it is my experience doing this trick that it makes sense to people that somehow George can shake the glasses up onto his forehead. In the real world you probably couldn't do that but George can and with the right gimmick you could too! Just though I would share a more positive perspective of the nightshades development. After all, it's partly my baby now. It is my sincerest hope that all of you, who purchase this PH release, enjoy and benefit from the new additions. Warm regards, Mark Allen |

I just recently received this DVD and had a chance to view it today. I've been a fan of this effect throughout it's several incarnations (I should note that I am perfectly happy with the AOA version, even after having seen this one, but wanted to see this updated version based on my appreciation of the original trick) and this particular version may end up being my favorite, despite the additional clean up. Now... keep in mind that I have watched the DVD twice and have constructed what needs to be constructed, but I have barely begun to work through the routine. Even so, I already like it. In fact, I like it quite a bit. The additional tricks included on the DVD enhanced the overall value of the purchase (even if I choose not to use them).
The biggest (perhaps only) negative for me was the quality of the video. In and out of focus, inconsistent audio quality; very "homemade" looking. Regardless, I definitely feel as though got my money's worth and more. |

This is such a great effect and so easy to carry with you. It's nice that you can do it with a borrowed bill - adds even more to the ending!

This is too good. I'm often suspicious of the words "ULTRA" and "ULTRA-VISUAL", but this is EXACTLY the best way to describe it.
The principle involved has solved a five year problem I've had coming up with a method to an effect...I got so frustrated, I gave up. Then, this. The ideas came springing forth like an inflating Navy raft! Who do I talk to to get more "materials" and permission to include this in my idea? Now, mind you, I'm not marketing anything. This is for my own little effect I created. I don't use anything without permission, so I'll keep it in my head until I speak with the creator. Ha! I used up all the materials for my project(s) after making my Ultra Visual Nightshades gimmick. I don't even know what this is called or where to look for it. Doug |

A note to all the UK users . . . I love paper money effects (Slow Burn is a favourite of mine). However, the problem we face is, while it's possible to gaff one of our notes (bills), it usually costs us an arm and a leg to do so. The smallest denomination we have is £5 ($10ish), but a more visual note is our £10 ($20ish). Cutting one of these up takes more nerve than performing the effect!

Is it possible to change the cut up note for another in any way at the bank ?

Is this still for sale at the Astonishment Project website?
I clicked the link provided in an earlier post but the product is no longer showing up for sale. Can I purchase it anywherelse? Can I do this effect using Canadian bills? I live in Canada. Thanks |

I plan on getting this. Is it repeatable? Good for strolling and easy to reset and to get in and out of quickly?

There's a little set-up involved so you might want to pick and choose when to use it. Very simple and easy to do concept but you might want to make up a couple extra bils in case you want to give them out as a keepsake sort of thing. |

I see this for sale all the time here for a great price. Just ask and I'm sure someone has one for sale. hth Ralph P.S This is one of my favorite paper money effects. Get it and you'll thank me later.
