Larry,
I like your idea of a verse presentation for the rings and for the cups and balls. I think that it's interesting that these two effects have, in your hands, lent themselves to this type of presentation. It's also interesting that you cared enough about these two effects to put that much effort into them. They inspired that in you. In my experience, I get the strongest reactions from the rings and the cups. Those are the real "gasp getters." The basis of your verse for your cups is a story? Hope I get to see you do it someday. Best, Jim

The absolute best "Linking Ring" routine I have ever seen is done by Jay Marshall. Enter, Hold up the set of rings, Look at the rings en masse, Toss the rings off into the wings. Fini! Of course this probably gets a bigger hand from the magicians than a lay audience.
Cheers!

I have been removing the one from many for over twenty years and nobody has ever been tipped the method. I guess it's all in how it is performed. If you perform it as described by Vernon it really appears the ring passes through the others. It's a great optical illusion.
As for the loud klanking...I started to use a routine with silent linking and my critics thought I was nuts. They loved the ringing for two reasons. The rings sounded musical and the sound of them linking reinforced their solidity to the audience. Once again proving in the annals of magic there sometimes are no right or wrong answers... Steven
