I own the Dave Neighbors rattle gimmick. I bought it from a friend years ago and use it to this day. Still works great. It is easy to turn on and off, and no chance of doing either unintentionally.

Joshua,
I can't speak for everyone but, I normally wear mine just below my elbow with the brass "casing" pointing towards my body. Obviously this makes the locking mechanism easily to do one armed. Hope this helps! -Bill |

Now, with a little imagination... you can have both with the rattle purse. The only problem would be the on/off feature. I have both the purse rattle and the porper coin rattle. The combination is lethal! Mr. Neighbors..... any news on your rattler...Pls don't forget to give me a holler. Rannie

Does anyone have the old "Coin Clink" rattler. Forgot who made that thing, but was wondering if anyone used it and how easy it was (or not) and effective they found it.
And hey Bill, are you saying you have Neighbor's rattle? What's the round figure on that one? Porpers looks nice but a bit pricey. And the locking mechanism, not exactly understanding how it works (locks and unlocks). The old Coin Clink thing I have has to be pulled and pushed. Never really liked that about it.

Hey Marion,
I do have Neighbors' rattle. Don't know if I'm understanding what you mean by "round figure" though. The coin clink you have sounds to me like it has the same locking mechanism as Porper's. Honestly, Porper's is well made but I'd definitely go with Neighbors' gimmick. The sound is 100x better and that's what I look for most. If you want silver coins to sound like silver, they do. In Porper's they don't sound like silver at all, and that upset me a little. -Bill |

I just bought one of Dave Neighbor's half dollar size rattles from another Café member and it is a pretty dandy little prop. The sound is spot on and the on/off feature is ingenious and seems adaptable to a variety of performance styles or venues.
Dave, how do the $1.00 size rattles differ from my brass half dollar model-besides the obvious size difference?

No problem, Dave. I've also got a Cerberus set and your DVD. It is top notch. Do you have any more routines in print or on DVD besides the 6 on the DVD?
