With a Magical Monkey's Paw, Elwood, The Penguin, and Father Guido Sarducci have saved Jake from his death sentence in Purgatory. HE"S BACK!
The Bands first Orlando gig is at The House of Blues in the Soul Kitchen on August 2nd. For the best in Bizarre Blues, don't miss this event. It's FREE and open to the public Since the gig is in the resturant side of the venue we will have opportunities for table type magic/mentalism. We have some great routines with Tarot Cards, Monkey Paw's and the like, but I'm sure YOU have some cool Bizarre ideas too! I would like some additional ideas for The Nun and Father Guido as well as Elwood. Perhaps there are some blues based tunes that I haven't thought about? OR some good publicity slogans. You guys are pretty witty when it comes to this kind of stuff! Any help will be appreciated. Here's a quick tune http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=14 Thanks Dave

A postcard from the edge would be great...Will she be putting two honey buns over her ears?...Or just bring an M-16?

Classic blues tunes that may be appropriate include "Haunted House Blues" by Big Joe Turner, "Hoodoo Lady" by Memphis Minnie, "Nightmare" by Big Mama Thornton, "Hauntd House Blues" by Bessie Smith, "She Brought Life Back to the Dead" by Sonny Boy Williamson, "Black Cat Hoot Owl Blues" by Ma Rainey, "Seventh Son" by Willie Dixon, "Hoodoo Man Blues" by Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, "It must Have Been the Devil" by Otis Spann, "Mojo Hand" by Lightnin' Hopkins, "Vampire Woman" by Spark Plug Smith, "Ghost Woman Blues" by George Carter, "Vampire Brown" by Russell Lee & Daisy Wright, "Black Ghost Blues" by Lightnin' Hopkins, "Hoodoo" by Al Reed (a favorite of mine).
"Hellhound on my Trail" by Robert Johnson, "Swamp Ghost" by Clarence Gatemouth Brown, "Witchin Hour Blues" by Tampa Red, "Blue Ghost Blues" by Walter Davis, "No Headstone on my Grave" by Esther Phillips, "Fortune Telling Man" by Leonard Feather with Helen Humes, and "Vampire Woman Blues" by Harmonica Fats. Contemporary blues numbers that may fit include "Hoodoo Lover" "Haunts in My House" and a lot of other songs by Smokehouse, "The Witching Hour" by John Mayall, "The Ghost of James Bell" by Dean Hall, "Permanantly Halloween" by Lenny McDaniel," "I Just Want to Drink Your Blood" a parody of "I Just Want to Make Love to You" by Creepy Clyde, "Ghostin" an instrumental by Rod Piazza, "Haunted House" by Leon Redbone, "Trick or Treat" by the Robert Cray Band (I believe the original was by Otis Redding). "Loup Garou" by Dr. John, "Vampire Blues" by Loudon Wainwright III (Neil Young also has a song titled "Vampire Blues"), "Halloween Blues" by Clarence Brewer (another favorite of mine), "Scary Boogie"by Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers (another great one!) Hoodoo Moon" by Kenny Neal, "Something Gonna Jump Out the Bushes and Grab You" by Nappy Brown, "Bloodstains on the Wall" by Mike Morgan, and "Ghost at My Door" by Jools Holland. Of course, anything by Screamin' Jay Hawkins and much of the early Dr. John. These are some of the highlights from my collection. I debuted my original "Friday the Thirteenth Blues" at one of the Weerd Weekends. |
