Dr. Wilson,
Sorry to hear that Bar Harbor has been de-buskered; I was hoping to get down there from Bangor one day this summer to see you in action. Maybe at the Fair, then. Bruce |

You have a Feejee Mermaid?!?
Is it simply a banner, or do you actually have a taxidermy piece? The Zoology museum at Miami University (Oxford, OH) has both a Feejee mermaid and a 'devilfish' (doctored skate, as seen in Tony Shiels' book, "Thirteen"). Steve

Hey Dr. Wilson fans,
You have never been able to busk in the streets of Bar Harbor because of a blatantly unconstitutional anti-busking ordinance. I have started to work to get it changed the quiet way (no court case). For Peter "The Glassman" Bennet's account of this, click here. There is a small courtyard (private property) surrounded by shops that allowed busking for a while (several years). You had to sign up, and it wasn't that visible from the street, but it was OK. The surrounding shops nixed it this year. One of the shops is a Café and put tables out there; another is a new Improv theater and probably didn't want "free" (for tightwads) entertainment outside their show. Not only do I have "a" Feejee Mermaid, I have "the" Feejee Mermaid, one of P.T. Barnum's! The banners will be up soon; here is the story. If the ordinance has changed by next summer, I will let all of you know. Yours, Paul |
