Hi Matt, you may join the S.A.M. by contacting the National Administrator, Richard Blowers at rmblowers@aol.com and/or you may join the S.Y.M. - Society of Young Magicians - by contacting SYM Director Jann Wherry Goodsell at bravesjann@comcast.net.

The S.A.M. requires that you have two sponsors who will sign your application and that you submit payment with your application.

If you will e-mail me at Merlina17@aol.com or send me a private e-mail in the newsgroup with your address and contact information, I will be happy to get the applications to you and to research whether or not there are assemblies or SYM chapters in your area that you may join and share in magic with.

Keep a dream in the making

Hi Matthew,

Maria just beat me to the punch Smile

As a 17-year-old, you are eligible for membership as a Young Member, which would allow you to join a S.Y.M. (Society of Young Magicians) Assembly if one is available in your area, or a S.A.M. Assembly. You should be able to find your nearest assembly here (the button is at the top of the page): Magicsam.com

You should have no trouble getting two Assembly members to sponsor you. The only other requirement is that you promise to adhere to the S.A.M. Oath, which is here

You can apply online or by mail by completing a membership application here.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me via PM.

Best,
Neil

Neil, glad to see you are on top of things in the Café. Thank you for your response to Matt, which by the way, was right on target.

Matt,

please let me know when you decide to join and I will be happy to co-sign with Richard so we can serve as your two sponsors if you don't already have them.

Best regards

Maria

Do sponsors have to be in the same assembly? I would be joining assembly #147.

Matt, no, you don't have to be in the same assembly as a sponsor.

Thank you so much. Hopefully I will be able to join this week.

When you go to join an assembly, what is the process for that?

You'll need to check with the specific assembly you're thinking of joining. Each club will have different ideas on how others can join their group.

Some require one to perform something prior to joining, others might have age restrictions and still others might just say "welcome aboard!"
