Saw this thread: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......start=30

In it was a really neat rendering of the Saman's Intruder Box by Titanas.

Is this something you do a lot of, and may I ask how you do them? (What program?) did it take long to learn? I still do everything the old fashioned way (Pencil and scale ruler) and would like to learn more about this.

Do you have any other such renderings? I'm fascinated!

Ok, maybe I am naive at times... new technology (For me at least) gets me interested. And I like Titanas design on this.

Wonderbott,
Thanks for your nice comments. I am flattered. Well if you like this render on Saman's Intruder Box (which is just a draft - not photorealistic) wait until you see "My Big Fat Illusions" Book.
I am going to post some more designs on the Intruder thread as alternative base designs.
All the best,

Personally, I use Rhino 3d. I find that it is the easiest, and most straight-forward software to use. It also has a wealth of secondary programs that work closely in it to do everything from photorealistic rendering to making Rhino more "cad-like."

Chris Stolz works with 3d rendering as well, I know he used to use Rhino, but I'm not sure if he has since changed.

Ryan C. Reed also creates incredible renderings with some of the best programs on the market.

While they may help make designs look more appealing, it is no substitute for the skills you learn by designing with pencil and paper. Like anything else these programs are simply tools, and should be used appropriately...but they sure make it much easier to visualize the final product without resorting to scale models.

I used to work with Rhino until I tried MAX.
After that everything was different.

I'm now using a loaner computer: I've switched software since a few months ago after dealing with slow render times. Recently: After/ During the studio rebuild: I'm now using Maya Maya Unlimited 8.5. & proprietary rendering software & hardware acceleration. It works for now. But. Will be hosting the rendering machines remotely in the future in a secure location using fiber channel & high high speed internet. Most cost effective at this point.
Kind Regards

Leapinglizard,
I am glad you like this version, I have many of my own illusion designs but since they are going to be in my "My Big Fat Illusions" book, I don't think it would be a good idea to post them before the publishing day.
