Howdy! I'm currently in the development stage for a new show... I'm experimenting with some ideas...
Is there a device that will let you control video in a similar fashion to the way a Virtual Soundman lets you control music? I would like a playlist of videos that I could go to at specific cues remotely... It would also be nice to be able to remotely fade them to black... The output would be to two projectors... Any thoughts? I know the Showtech can control flash pots, can it control video as well? If I were to implement this, I would need it to be reliable enough to perform with regularly... |

I spoke with Kelly Duro about this ( at VSM) he said he was working on a VSM unit that can do this.... and he had a solution using 2 VSM's that he could help me with. He also had on his site a mention of the video version coming. I don't see anything on there now though.
Email VSM http://www.virtualsoundman.com/index.html and ask them about it. They were very helpful. I did not pursue it any further and have not done it yet. Good luck, Scott |

You might want to try embedding the videos in a Power Point Show. Just create a slide for each video and use a remote presentation device to advance the slides. If you want them to fade to black, just insert a black slide between videos and use the Power Point dissolve feature between slides. It may take a little tweaking, but I'm sure it would work.

Another option is to use a DMX DVD player. Then have your video cues triggered by DMX. You would need to use one of the show control devices from Wireless Wizardry to trigger the DMX. Currently I only know of one company that makes a DMX DVD player. They are in Denmark.

Yo,
A solution that might help is a IPOD Video with a remote control. It might work, try it out on your buddies IPOD Video. G0THIKE |

Michael L,
All you need is a remote receiver that does not block the audio port, the place where you plugin the headphone. You have to get a Ipod Video Cable: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/36......ble.html I grabbed one up for $5.00 at some Computer Fair. G0THIKE |

Jim is right, you could do this with powerpoint. I used to put my music into a powerpoint presentation and run it with a Griffin airclick. The only problem is that the airclick is not very reliable, as many people know. Personally, I've switched to an ijet, although I've found that it is not 100% reliable either.
That being said, if you have someone running your show, then a powerpoint presentation would be absolutely fine. In face, it also has the added bonus of being able to add notes on the screen to help cue whoever is running your show. |

Power Point with a remote mouse can work well, especially with annimation for fades. Just remember to turn off any programs that might pop-up mail or an internet connection!
