The Brad Burt DVD on card flourishes is great to begin with. Everything is explained slowly and in detail. I learned how to do a one-handed shuffle very easily from that DVD. My next favorite would be vol. 1 of Jeff McBride's card manipulation series (The later volumes are too advanced for my level right now).

McBride's dvd volume 2 shows some good fans and flourishes with a fanning deck. Lewis Ganson's book "Expert Manipulation with Playing Cards" has an excellent section on flourishes with a fanning deck - it is actually a reprint of a booklet called "Exhibition Card Fans."

A little known book worth a search is _Card Productions for the Stage_ (French title _productions de cartes pour la scene_) by Cirs and Nops with text in five languages (French, English, German. Spanish, and Italian). You may have to look for it at a European magic shop. 60 pages with lots of photos.
There is also some nice stuff in Walter Gibson's _Complete Illustrated Book of Card Magic_. Ganson put out a Supreme Teach-In book called _A New Look at Card Fans_ that updated some of the stuff from his earlier books. Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

The Chavez material is the best, but, you can't beat what Jeff McBride offers. I wish his material had been around when I was first learning.
Now, the best way to learn from Jeff's DVD's is to choose one or two things and master them; instead of trying to learn how to do everything at once. So, watch the entire tape, choose the stuff that really blows you away (write them down based on your first impression), work it like a child learning to walk, and forget the rest.

What kregg has said applies to ANY magic DVD or VHS tape you purchase.

Yes I agree, pick ONE OR TWO things, and that should be a good start. Also, I would buy Jeff's other two as well, and save them for later. I learned the stuff from the first volume, then regretted having to wait three days for the mail to come
