I am looking for a good effect where you "give" your power to a spectator. This needs to be something that can work for the stage. Just something I am picturing is 4 or 5 specs on stage. One of them is reading the other 3 or 4 to win a game of some kind. Kind of like Bank Night or something along those lines. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your help. |

I envision a Kurotsuke routine with dual reality. It will appear as though someone knows who has the black ball although you are secretly signaling them somehow.
I suppose a clever exercise could be to take a number of effects you already know...where YOU read someone's mind...and rework it to figure a way for it to look like a spectator is doing it. Though you may have already considered this approach. |

What about a poker game where your chosen donee of your power always wins?
Harry Lorayne had many such routines, but it was the performer who always won. You could easily adapt such routines to make your designee win. You wouldn't have to be the dealer all of the time, either. You could even switch donees in midstream, make bargains with the specs, etc. for funny bits of business. Use jumbo cards and an easel onto which you or one of the specs could deal the hands and then show them. |

Use a NW to have them 'read your mind'. Or is that too obvious?

Chi,
hope you are familiar with the effect call High Voltage, where you can light a Fluorescent Bulb with the touch of your hand...you can do this without touching it also.....I had an idea where you aparently make the volunteer light the bulb without you go near them the folowing discussion is only for the inner secrets sections of the Café so, so install the High Voltage to your S***e, so you just do the presentational ploy But of course there must be a porcess of YOU giving YOUR POWER to your volunteer, like Hypnosis, Mind Control, or what have you...but again there must be a Process that indeed you are passing your mantle to your volunteer...otherwise it will be obvious |

You might consider Ted Lesley's "spectator as the mentalist". It could play for more than one person at a time.

I offer to teach someone to read my mind. Before I agree to do it I put them through 2 "tests". The first is ACAAN to test their intuition. The second is "Do as I Do" to test thier compatibility with me. Of course, they pass both tests. I then do Ted Lesley's "Spectator as Mind Reader" while using patter that I am teaching them to read my mind. This set works well and can fillup about 10 minutes.
Practice what you present.
Present what you practice. |

Chichi711,
Have your checked out Patrick Redford's "Triangle"? There is a very good routine within its pages that has you give your power to a participant and they read someone else's mind. It's clean and easy with absolutely no gimmicks. Also, Ted Lesley has a good card effect (if you are not against using cards) that I think is simply called "Spectator as Mindreader". This is a good one too as it plays out very clean. While the original routine does not have you transfer your power to the participant, you can easily add that in your scripting. Paul Vigil's smashing "Diplopia" is, in my humble opinion, the very best impromptu mental card feat that is out there. It takes a bit of practice, but is very well worth the time. This effect leaves jaws on the floors from both laymen and Magicians alike. |
