Hi guys, I am fairly new to kids magic and have been doing die box for a long while but it takes up too much room. I know there are similar tricks which are flat like run rabbit run. what other tricks are out there like this.... which are not so bulky. cheers

There are flat versions of the die-box which vanish a disc-like object that rolls back and forth or flat objects like jumbo cards, etc. Jim Gerrish has one planned for Book 3 of his Hardboard and Duct Tape Magic Show, but if you can't wait that long (or you hate building your own effects), you can find commercial tricks that vanish CDs/DVDs :

Jay Leslie's "Man in the Moon" is a good choice and a great children's effect. You can see it at his House of Enchantment website and view a clip at:

It has two parts but both are pretty flat and easy to fit in a case.

If you're looking for a 'sucker' trick, Fraidy Cat Rabbit packs fairly small and gets a good reaction from the kids.

Two great classic die box take-offs - Adair's Crown Jewel (the die box is only one of two effects in the trick), and Pizzadigitation by Mike Bent (at Hank Lee) or Pizza Place or any of the other pizza die box take-offs. There's also a choco chip cookie version at Jam Magic site. I like Pizzadigitation and Adair's - using the original die box for kids was just too confounding. I sold mine, but like Pizzadigitation.

Other great new versions of a good sucker trick for kids include Monkey Business by Derek Rutt Creations. I'm not a huge fan of Hippity Hop Rabbits, but they're the standard . . .

You may want to check out Derek Rutt's creations. I have have a lot of success with my kid shows using his items. Some are old tricks with a new face and some add ons that make for a great show. You can go to his Web site and down load video clips to see how they would work. Hocus Pocus carries his products. You may want to check out Barry Mitchel stuff also.

Hi Sleight King:

Mikame makes a version where a playing card slides back and forth:

Another adaptation is "The Elusive Teddy Bear" from Mel Babcock.

It's an illustration of a toy teddy bear on a plaque.

I can't believe that no one mentioned "Run-Wolf-Run".... Much better version of "Run-Rabbit-Run". But hey, I am partial to Chance Wolf's stuff!
