My biographies don't go into great detail on the inventions. However, it was first presented by Buatier de Kolta in April, 1886. If you need more than that, I can PM you some additional details. A good source for the details of the illusion, which should always be called "The Vanishing Lady" so as not to give away the modus operandi, is Will Goldston's "Magician Annual 1909-1910."

You're going to have trouble finding a loose copy of the Peter Warlock Book. Try a magic club library.
