While I have not read most of the books in contention, I nevertheless vote for Magicians Cookbook Ltd by Andi Gladwin and Jack Parker based on the diverse and exceptionally high quality of practical card magic. It’s also particularly well written. Profit going to a good cause is the icing on the cake.

If I could change my vote, I would vote for Cardini: The Suave Deceiver. Just finished reading it, and it's exceptional.

We either can change our votres, or the voting should only start when the year is over.

PS - that is the reason I have not voted yet

I don't blame you. I also think they should break it down into two catagories, biographies and instructional. I loved the Fogel book and can't tell you how cool that Devils bar book was.

I voted, but it really makes no sense to start this until 2007 is over.

Since I don't plan on buying anymore books this year, my vote goes to Devil of a Bar and Pub. Non stop read with great magic that is fun, easy to do, and very entertaining.

I brought this up last year when the voting began, what, in June or something? It's still absurd to vote for best book of 2007 when there are months and many worthy books still being published. I also find it absurd that anyone would value an opinion that's based on having read only a (I'm guessing small) percentage of the books on the list offered here (which is rather incomplete!) Of those voting, how many people have read ALL the books, making an informed decision?

Of course, the results are what they are. But I'd be more interested in 'best of' lists from reviewers from Genii and Magic Magazines. Then there'd be a more informed decision making process. Genii has started a list of 'bestsellers', so why not develop a traditional list, such as 'five books you must own from 2007'. THAT I'd be interested in.

Guys, the 'rules' as it were are there for you to see before voting. You can't change votes. If you don't want to vote til the end of the year...don't, that shouldn't be a problem though, but there are those that will and have voted already. It isn't like this is hugely offical or anything, but more of an intersting curiosity of who likes what. Now, for some, they can only afford one or two books, so they vote for the one they liked best this year. If it was for a huge statue or medal or something, I would understand what people are trying to say, but it is just a bit of fun to be honest. People like myself have about 85% of the books on that list, and I still think that if anything came out, I still wouldn't change my mind. But, that is me. Everyone is different and entitled to an opinion, so vote when you want to, and vote what you want for, but remember, you get one vote.

The count for the Magicians Cookbook Ltd book should be 2. I voted for it on October 17, and mjarret voted for it on December 2.
