Not long left guys, for those of you have are leaving it late, might want to start thinking about getting those votes in now, can't see anymore books being brought or sent in time to be read and given a proper judgement in the short time we have left this year!

Many great books on the list and it was tough deciding between Session, WD40, Handcrafted Card Magic, BOF III, and Devil of a Bar & Pub. Ultimately, I am casting my vote for Bruce Cervon's Castle Notebooks (volume 1), based on its historical significance and the depth of material it contains. I must say, however, that many of the books named on the list are deserving of the title. I can name more than a handful of e-books that were released in 2007, as well, that deserve equal recognition.

90% of the list already has a place on the shelves of my library. Here's to hoping that I can complete the collection sometime in 2008.

Happy New Year, everyone!!

Congratulations to Joel Givens for his fabulously clever material. Stiff competition all around. 2007 was witness to some truly exceptional offerings, much of which wasn't even mentioned on this thread.

The business of books is very much alive and I, for one, am very thankful for that fact.

Thanks, guys, for your kind words and your votes. I hope you all enjoyed the book, and more
importantly, I hope everyone was able to find some things of use. Josh and I both worked
really hard on this, and this award was a very pleasant surprise.

Thanks everyone!

Wow! Thanks everybody! There were so many great books this year—I’m honored that anyone would count ours among them.

As I’ve said once before, our goal was to write a DIFFERENT kind of magic book, and we had specific, new goals of what we wanted to achieve. From the start, I knew some readers and critics wouldn’t like or understand the choices in format. But I also hoped that others would “get it,” and I feel both gratified and vindicated by this thread.

Joel’s material is, I think, fantastic, but a lot of it is also specific to certain venues or situations. I knew the format had to frame this material in a way that would help the reader understand the trick IN CONTEXT. I won’t bore you with more details on the format, but for the curious, I wrote an essay on this on my website, http://www.joshuajay.com/merchandise.html that details the process of Session.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Now back to work on the “new” project. Happy New Year.

Josh

Hi Peo,

It's a book (maybe two volumes) on the close-up and stand-up material of Rune Klan. As you know so well (being his neighbor), Rune is an extremely talented, successful magician almost unknown to the magic world. I hope to change that!
