I think that some good patter can distract from the cutting.

Perhaps some flourishes and cuts.
I am just clinging not to buy this until I see some reviews. Very neat.

And the very good news is that you can do it with the original version (actually, the new version is the original version with a few tips added) ! There is a link to http://www.spreadwave.com who teaches you how to make it. It's soooooooo simple but so effective. I would say the effect is even stronger when the spectator chooses one ace. If you don't have the link, feel free to pm me.

I think this is a GREAT trick, but I would suggest if you buy it you do NOT opt for the version including a matching blank deck. The price difference is $23.00 and that seems like an awful lot for a normal deck of blank cards! Just buy the $42.00 version and if you feel the need for a normal blank deck to switch, get one from your favorite dealer or Haines and a much lower cost.

Hmmm comes with an explanation on how to translate it to other languages?
I suspect hard work there... |

Hi Mariano,
I have the trick and let me say that, once you know how it is done, you might be able to translate the basic principle into other languages. But that would mean lots of work. I am happy that Mathieu is going to release a German version in december, professionally printed, and I am looking forward to getting this instead of creating my own version. I will also keep the original English version to show at international shows. Regards Stefan |

It seems all those cuts are just setting the deck up for the climax. I'm wondering if the spectators will think the same thing. In the context of the trick is he trying to just show the spectator that all the cards are blank on both sides? Because if I was going to do that I would just spread the cards in my hand, show them, then raise the fan to show the underside. It's a beautiful climax but the road to get there seems a long one.

I've just watched Mathieu perform this a few times live this weekend. It's a remarkable piece of work and it's quite fluid when you see it live in person. I've also asked him to show me his Black Hole effect a few times and must say, that effect looks incredible and highly entertaining when seen live as well.

I like this trick although to me it seems more like a feat of dexterity more than anything magical. When the big finish happens the method becomes completely obvious, however and its a BIG however it doesn't matter. Just doing what it looks like you did would be amazing. Laymen have no idea that the gimmicks you use to keep the parts of the deck separate even exist. So to them its just about as magical as a card florish. Great Trick though .

It does not look or feel anything like a feat of dexterity. There's actually quite a few magical moments throughout the routine. The demo video really doesn't do it a lot of justice as I've seen it in person and by Mathieu Bich himself, it looks amazing when performed well in person.

Do. It's very good. I think the reason I feel its more of a technical display than a magical appearence is that I don't have a clue what kind of patter to put with it. I do it just like the demo. Name a card.....here's a series of cuts and flips and bang boom it says the card you named. Which is good enough to have made me buy it but kinda bland. How do you guys present this? Ive thought of using it in a seris of reveals like, Have a card named then do invis deck then Spreadwave then chosen all with the same card. I dunno.

I don't know what all the fuss is about the cuts. There are two cuts before you get to the reveal of the three printed cards in the middle. Present the two first cuts as you say "Great the (name of card they selected)...now to the deck, as you see it is completely blank (execute the first two cuts) but with a snap, (spread the cards) you can see three cards have been printed in the deck. (remove the blocks of cards to pull out the cards) YOUR, IS THE, CARD...Hmm. If we were to re-arrange these it says YOUR CARD IS THE.....that only can mean one thing (go to cards sitting to the side and slowly spread and reveal)"
that's it. The first two cuts of the trick are the only ones that I could see there being a fuss about but really....two cuts? You can easily perform them under the patter. Maybe to people it just seems like more because theres no patter, the video is set to music? Nico |

I just have them name a card and stress how it was a totally free choice and all that, then do the trick. I think that may be what makes it more technical. It would be a lot better to have the selection be kept secret until the reveal. Any ideas? |

Nico Zottos Elite user 486 Posts |
Well you obviously must know the selected card before the reveal so you can do the "secret move" but maybe a center tear or something like that. Even have them pick a card from a different deck and peek and then move on to the blank deck saying how, even though everything is blank, you want them to imagine their card somewhere in the deck, etc.

If the card were forced could you have the spreadwave deck preset and eliminate the cuts?
